OK for my next problem, seems that Micro HD is now not putting out the 18v to make the Horizontal part of that LNBF work??? I know there's nothing wrong with the system itself because my Openbox S9 Horizontal works fine with that same system!!

So is this a hardware problem or can the firmware cause this problem? Everything else seems to be working fine, ie, Vertical channels, Timed record, Moves the dish OK but no Horizontal video?
 
Is the voltage changing at all when you select a horizontal channel?
 
My MicroHD would have similar issues, but..I have a long cable run and an 8-way switch at the far end. Changed out the switch (with NO power at all at the receiver to be safe with the ports) and swapped to the Amiko mini, so far so good....If you need to compare symptoms, or I can help...let me know. I don't think the receiver's bad in my case, but...there may be some cabling issue that the other receiver is less sensitive-to perhaps??? Spring will tell us more when all new cable goes in. I did not try blanking the memory and swapping the MicroHD for another, (I have a second one) but should-have, probably.) I was more interested in making it work than the full diagnostic of the original issue, which is lazy of me, but...it is winter.

Maybe you changed a setting in the menu so it's only working on vertical channels?
 
My microHD will not work properly with a Digiwave 8x1 brand switch here and it will operate with a DMSI switch.

It has a separation or isolation problem between ports and most likely creates a voltage drop when supplying current between all my dishes at once.
 
Well, I learned something. I found out that my Micro HD doesn't like that DMX741s LNBF that's on that Raydx dish I have! I recently bought another Micro HD and had never tried one of those on that Raydx system before. I already had that Openbox S9 on the Raydx and also have used that junk V7 with it without video problems with either receiver. BUT, when I put that spare Micro HD I now have in that Raydx system this problem started. And not only that, but the other Micro HD I just recently got that is in the Winegard system now won't work with that Raydx system either?? WTF?

IIRC early on there were some issues with those receivers with that DMX brand of LNBF that were related to the internal 22Hz Ku switch but I thought it was related to it moving the dish rather than not playing video?

Note here that the DMX741s that's on my Winegard dish IS NOT using the built in 22Hz Ku switch. There is dual coax run to that LNBF and there's an external 22Hz Ku switch next to the receiver that switches between C and Ku signals.

Ennywho, now I know what NOT to use on that Raydx system in the future unless I go ahead and swap out the LNBF with a C/Ku 1 that I got from Titanium last year or put an external 22Hz Ku switch on it. When the weather gets better I may do one or the other just to see if the problem goes away.

The 22 kHz switch is powering both LNBFs and probably dropping the horizontal voltage below the polarity switch point. What is the current draw for each LNB on the DMX741? Try using a DiSEqC switch instead of the 22KHz and see if the voltage is adequate to switch the DMX741 polarity.
 
So it was an LNB that caused this? A combination c/ku? My Birdview has one on it now, using diseqc and two separate downleads from the nosecone for selection. It's an older LNB, maybe of the same variety....Am I gathering we may have a similar problem? I always attributed it to cabling..but maybe it's not!
I'm going back to dedicated PLL C-band from Titanium soon, (have it here, just need to install on Birdview) ...so maybe with that, I'll gain back guaranteed switching of mine as well! (My Ku is on individual dishes now...don't need the Ku on the Birdview.).

Did I read your post correctly on the cause of the problem?

Brian, not sure I understand what you mean about the Diseq C switch swap cuz I don't remember ever hearing about that before?? I thought the Diseq C stuff was motor control only?

Next, let me correct a mistake I made in the original post. I was mistaken about the video as it was VERTICAL that wasn't working and HORIZONTAL was. With the heat pump system here at the house taking a dump and having to get several estimates this week to replace it I guess my old feeble mind got confused on that part. I guess I need to remember that I now have problems with multitasking.

Again, the Winegard system has dual coax run to a DMX741s LNBF and I'm using an EXTERNAL 22Hz switch inside the house within 24" of the receiver to change between C and Ku signals.

The Raydx system, which is the problem child has only a single coax run to it's DMX741s and that system uses the built in 22Hz switch in that LNBF to change between C and Ku signals.

All my receivers are setup to activate the 22Hz Ku switch for Ku signals and they all use Diseq C 1.2 for motor functions.

Maybe I misunderstood your post #7 that you were using an external 22KHz switch? If using a 22KHz switch, all ports are powered at all times even if the port is not selected.

Not sure what you mean about "all ports are powered"?? Does that mean that even though I may be only using the Cband part for what I'm viewing that the Ku side is also powered at the same time?

And one last thing, am I correct that early on these DMX741s LNBFs were a problem for Micro HD motor function if the internal 22Hz switch was used for Ku signals?? I have that in my memory for some reason so it would be nice if someone could confirm this?

Yes the internal 22 kHz switch on that LNBF attenuated the DiSEqC 1.2 signal levels and caused motor control problems.

A DiSEqC 1.0/1.1/2.0.2.1 switch typically only powers the port that is selected. A 22KHz typically powers all ports at all times. So yes, the internal 22KHz switch is likely powering both the C and the KU electronics at all times.

Question, I noticed that Geosat Pro makes a 22Hz switch. Do those screw with the motor function on the Micro HD like the Ecoda ones and others you see on fleabay do?
 
In my opinion, the Ecoda 22KHz switch was one of he best. Don't recall Ecoda switches affecting motor control. Too bad they got out of the business almost 6 years ago. Personally, I only use DiSEqC switches at this point as they offer a lower current draw for multiple LNB and motorized operation.

Haven't been able to find the 2x1 DiseqCs anywhere but in China and I won't order from them. You, Michael nor Casey list the 2x1 on your websites?
