Missed (skipped?) recordings

Thank you dare2be for pointing out that I can review the state of past recordings. In this case however, I must admit to cockpit error. The show did not record because HBO did not broadcast it.

I still agree with previous comments about the DVR's unreliable scheduling and performance. I had mysterious recording failures in the past but I attributed them a new contractor providing the guide listing. When that happened, I deleted all my timers and installed new ones. This seemed to stop missed programs as long as the guide did not change the program's title (or some other internal information) from what the timers used to recognize a program.

Yep a lingering problem from the guide provider changeover. Better than it was but still raises it's ugly head sometimes.

I'm not talking about timers not firing since the changeover (although there were some of those), I'm talking about timers I just set not firing the next day because they changed the guide at the last minute.

Yes, that's still the effect of the new provider. With the previous provider they too would make changes sometimes as close as the night before, I would have timers that looked like they were not going to fire but come that day I could see they were now set to record. With this provider they make a change but somehow it messes up and there is no recording. That in addition to sometimes needing two different timers.

I know about this, TIVO (that I also use) became part of that new provider company and of course changed also to using them and has had similar problems since. I have to keep an eye on "Murder In Paradse" on TIvo similar as I do with some shows on the VIP. Just go to the TIVO forums to see the complaints from the takeover forward. For awhile you would have been convinced they were talking about the DISH guide.

Well, it did it again. GF is not happy. Real Housewives didn't record last night. Reason: It show the original airdate as 2017, even though it was a new episode. So, yes it is 99% issue of guide provider.
Same here. Mine skipped the original 8 or 9pm showing due to priority. No problem as it always comes on 3 hours later. The problem was the guide info said the original airdate was 2017. I recorded that one as i assumed it was the 2018 one. It was.
It shows (the 2017 ) coming on again tonight at 11 30pm CST i believe. record that one. It will be 2018.

I'm going to have to get all OCD on this!! I shouldn't have to double check. UGh. Please dish go back to whoever did the guide before!
I had to get all OCD years ago when I had Charter DVRs. They were horrible. So I made a favorite's TV list 6 to 10 pm in Like TitanTV. Every Saturday or Sunday morning I print it for the upcoming week Monday thru Sunday. Then I circle all the programs (New only) that I know have timers and should be recording. I bump this favorites list against the previous week's list to make sure I didn't miss any programs. Then usually Sunday morning before the wife makes her entry I go thru my Hopper's upcoming daily schedule for the next Monday thru Sunday and make sure all the timers are correct. Then daily in the morning I check the timers for the day. Then in the after noon I check the timers again for the rest of the day. I use to do the identical timers setup on my second Hopper 3 as a back up but no longer do that except for two timers that are hi priority for for the Mrs. My confidence has gotten better with the Hopper 3. Will probably bite me someday. Also in the second Hopper 3 I record all sport programs for the week that we want to watch. Lately I have been creating all sports timers in the primary Hopper 3 too since the trick play is presently screwed up when you watch recordings on distant Hopper from near Hopper. Do you think I am OCD? My dear wife says I have AADDOCDWA.

Either there was no Episode 5 of Rosanne last week or not only did it not record, it doesn't exist in VOD, either
Roseanne? The VOD on my Wally lists episodes 1 through 6, including episode 5 "Darlene v. David."
I just checked the Disney app (listed as "More Video Services" on the Apps screen) and ABC has all six episodes there, too.

Is anyone having issues with recording ballgames on an RSN? For the past few months, on occasion, when we record a baseball game, or a basketball game (a few weeks ago), the recording stops somewhere in the middle. A baseball game will usually record for 4 hours, but when we are watching, it just stops around a half hour or hour or two into the recording. The screen just goes black. I've tried going into the recording again as live tv - nothing. I can't even tune to the channel. If I stop the recording, I can tune to the live channel, but by then I've missed at least 3 innings, or maybe the game is over already. I don't believe this has happened on any other network, just the RSNs.

Mine skipped over that one. The one prior to last night's episode that showed on VOD was Eggs Over, Not Easy....until just now, checked again and Episode 5 is showing in VOD.... smh
I checked again this morning and there was still no Episode 5

Did you try the Disney app like I mentioned above? I usually check there first, because it is more reliable than the regular VOD through the menu.

I have had the same issues on occasion, skipping a timer. Most of the time, it is a program that is repeated, so I can catch it later. But there have been a few movies like on TCM, that I have missed that aren't repeated. Some may not be back on for months. But again it is not very common.I have the vip211k.

The problem I notice is a show says it was recorded ,but when I play it it shows only the last minute or two. I ass u me the show schedule was changed to an hour earlier for some reason and Dish didn't pay attention. This has happened several times on LuciFer and occasionally on several other shows.

I assume these shows were recorded by PTAT. Several people were reporting similar problems with Fox, and maybe ABC, awhile back. It doesn't seem to affect everyone, though, and it affects certain shows more than others. Maybe it only happens in certain markets?

I had the same skip issue on the Tuesday edition of The Voice. Was in the timer as recorded but no start or stop time and of course nothing on the DVR page
