Hello;
What I Need to know is what FTA Receiver to get for my area, I live in a CUP with mountains all around me , on Mt Hull , 13 miles North of Tonasket , and 13.2 South of Oroville, Washington.
Also would the FTA receiver work with a (Dish Network - dp plus) Dish?
Any advice or Help is really appreciated
Thank you for your time
David

:welcome to SatelliteGuys David Andrew!!

David,

Any decent FTA receiver will work anywhere around the world, you just have to decide what you are after and how to proceed. There are lower cost ones like I carry for a little over a hundred USD. There are also ones that run multiple operating systems and can do 4K(though there is not a lot of that yet) that go for $200 or more. Just ask plenty of questions and search the threads on this forum to figure out where you want to start. There are also PC cards for example but that gets more complicated and expensive, not something for a beginner.

These receivers no matter which one will not work with a DISH DP PLUS set up. You could buy a linear LNBF and modify the dish to accept it, BUT the dish is really too small for FTA. Most FTA signals are very much weaker than the power the DBS paid services are pumping out so you would need a larger reflector. There is also Ku Band which resembles the DISH, dish, but a little larger. Then their is still plenty of C-Band out there that most of us use. This requires the 8-12' dishes.
Just keep in mind that 99% of the time you will not be able to pull in the major(popular) paid stuff, ie, Discovery, MTV, HBO, etc. Sometimes these channels will go in the clear for a bit and that is fun to catch and is part of this hobby. :)

That receiver is DVB-S only so that would not be good, plus that is also sold as a hack box in some areas. It also will not be very well supported.
That dish is really on the small side, not much you will get there.

Welcome to the forum David. I'd stay with known reputable dealers of FTA products like Michael's, Titanium's, and Hypermegasat's. Can't go wrong that way. I've used their products and they're all top notch. Good luck in setting up your system, you'll enjoy it.
