Professional Install of Orby TV

To side car or integrate with a FTA system, put the 117w satellite on DiSEqC switch port #1 or on the 22KHz Off port. The 117w signal will pass through if no signaling is present on the ORBY TV STB switch port.
I wish those HDMI to ATSC modulators were cheaper. I would be using 7 channels to modulate with Orby receiver.

Meadow Vista is located in a valley and deep shadow for Sacramento stations . No chance of reception without a significant hardware investment.

I have a major OTA build with fringe UHF/high VHF antennas, Klitz amp and Silicon Dust tuner atop a 65' tower, 1/2 mile at my home. That terrestrial install is documented in the OTA section of this forum. More reliable reception of San Francisco stations than Sacramento.

What satellite is Orby's proramming on?

I am on the east coast of NC neer South Port . The Orby man is scheduled to come do my install between noon and 4pm est. Will let everyone know how it goes.

Will Orby reaim or replace for free after a hurricane?

I wondered about that too, I take antenna down before one comes thru would with a dish too if I decide to switch from cable. I assumed would be easy enough to mark the various adjustment points to put back at same aim it was.

Being as you own the equipment and there is no contract - just pay a month in advance.... you need to treat the dish as yours and call your insurance company about the storm damage.

Well the orby service is finally up and running. I have the 40 dollar package and I am getting 17 local channels with the included antenna. All and all I am very happy with the overall programming and quality of picture. The local channels get a little picture glitch now and then and the satellite channels went in and out at first but I think that's been corrected with a few needs of silicone. Activation was a snap and everything came up like it should. The Orby rep. from California called me several times to check up on me and my experience so yes I couldn't be happier with Orby themselves so far.....
Now the local Mas-Tec office and their "professional " installation is a whole different story... grab a sandwich for this one... my installation was scheduled for Friday March 15th between noon and 4pm. The tech called me at 4:07pm and said he was broke down and wanted to come out the next day between 9am and 9:30am which I agreed... Saturday he was a no show, no calls, no texts. I called him, left a message and got no call back.... I texted the dispatcher in Texas where I had gotten my original confirmation to report the issue. He replied that I was rescheduled for Monday the 18 between noon at 4pm. On Monday I called my house at 2pm and they said no one came by yet. I texted the Texas dispatcher and he said he showed that the tech had been and gone stating no line of sight and no answer at the door. (2 people home all day long). The dispatcher said he will have the local field supervisor call me which he did and said that the tech had trying to call me all day. I asked the supervisor how many times he, the supervisor tried and he said only once and I said you had no trouble.... well the supervisor ensured me that this tech would meet me at my house by 4pm to go over things. The tech showed up at 5:03pm, told me his line of sight was blocked. I told him he was pointing due east he said that's my line of sight, I won't get a signal with those 2 trees. I asked why all the other dishes in the neighborhood point west or south. He said this is different .... The next day he came out with another tech to re shoot the life of sight. The other tech established the true line of sight then left. I called and asked the tech who told me the wrong direction what if i had cut that tree down and he said that would have been my decision not his. It took the original tech from 8:30 am to 2pm to complete the installation . He re used the existing cables from dish network to the 2 rooms so only needed to run less than 60 feet of cable to the network box on my house... He told my fiance that the bedroom receiver was showing no signal, he thought the line might need to be replaced. After a call to the supervisor, he said that he had the wrong splitter and a new one would be in by Friday and he's be back out on saturday, till then no tv in that room. The next day I got home from work and went to check the network box. Sure enough the tech had hooked up the old line that went out to my shop and not the one to my bedroom. I hooked up the proper line and the bedroom receiver came up with no problem.... so Orby is great so far and the local Mas-Tec sucks....

I hope that when the Orby rep called to check on things that you advised them that they need a new installer in your area! ;):D
