My Directv account discount expires on March 31, 2019. I called the Loyalty Department today (3/26) to inquire about another discount for 12 months. I am currently getting $35 off on a select package. The CSR said she only had a $20 discount available to me at this time. I asked her if other discounts may become available. She said maybe and confirmed that these available discounts can vary on a daily basis. I remember calling last year like on the 30th of March for April 2018 when I got the $35 monthly discount last year.

Does anyone have experience with Directv by waiting until the very end of the current discount period to get a better discount for the upcoming year(like 1 or 2 days before expiration) ? Also can anyone give me any color as to how much Directv gives in discounts this year versus 1 year ago? I have been with them for like 5 years. Thanks.

You will likely get a better offer when you are off contract.

It really depends. I was 2 months into a new contract and got 60 off for a year. Free Sunday ticket and 9 bucks off hbo for a year. I didn’t even ask. I was calling to cancel my Sunday ticket renewal and the dude just started throwing crap out there. Best bet is to keep calling until you get what you want

Getting anything, much less $60/month off, is very rare if you are only a couple months into a contract.

Maybe, but I, too, got a big discount a year into a two-year deal right after original $75/month discounts rolled off. Same circumstance. Called about Sunday Ticket and they just started throwing discounts at me.
