I HATE Google Assistant

OK, I never use the GA, although I did, against my instincts, connect it to my account. Anyway, every time someone adds to this thread, I go test mine. It works every time. I now have U540. Still works. I don't use any router settings to make it work. I have Fibre Optic internet with a 3-Node Velop/Mesh system. One node is at my TV with ethernet plugged into my Hopper. My Phone on Wifi right there shows 129 Mb/s D/L speed and my Hopper shows 307 Mb/s. D/L speed.

I just tested it. When I say espn, it changes to espn. When I say DVR, it opens the DVR. When I say Buffalo Bills, it brings up that search result. When I said Nicholas cage,. it popped up his picture and some of his movies, and when I clicked on his picture, it took me to his fully populated search page.

I don't know who you have for internet or your D/L speed but some providers equipment does not work well with the Hopper. I've seen some online serviceswork and others not on the same receiver many times. Comcast/Spectrum/Mediacom Gateways are the worst offenders. AT&T has one also and I'm sure there are others. Our fix is to put in a Hopper Internet Connector (Hic) or use a 3rd party router for the Hopper to connect to. I have used one Dual Band Velop on a customers Comcast Gateway and it fixed all the problems she had.

So people who say it doesn't work, it does work. It works on mine and many other people's, too. Is it possible the problem is how you connect to the internet?

I just tried it. Not impressed.I like saying tune to a channel and it won’t. It’s Trying to send me the YouTube. I said tune to freeform and its response was tune to Free porn. Maybe it learned from Claude .

Don't say "Tune to...." Just say the channel. Like I'll say "ESPN" and it changes to espn. See if that works

I did when I tested U540 and got far better returns. And it does seem to be working better. Even when I have it control my Media Room. Which I guess is only because Alexa is set up to do it. But hasn't been doing too good of a job lately. On Anything! But I still I'm finding that I am grabbing the remote a lot and cussing.

Mine has been failing a lot lately with the "Ooops . . ." and I press the Select Button to get the nicely finessed text search and it works great. Then while in the Text Search, the GA takes over popping up a thing at the bottom and "SCREAMS" that she has found nothing, even though I had already moved on and abandoned her.

So I tell anyone that says they hate the GA to go this route.

If you used the exact syntax in the quotes, it will always fail because that is not the name of the program.
Exactly, Here's how I do my searches.

DVR - goes to DVR
Remote Control Settings - Goes to that page
ESPN - Goes to SPN
Channel 31 - goes to channel 31
Tom Hanks - Brings up his Information page
Master Chef - Brings up search results for that program

Nice and simple and I still have a feeling that who you're using for internet and how the Hopper is connected is possibly part of the issue for people who are having problems
