2019-20 NCAA Football Thread

They said this morning that even if all top 3 lost they would be in it would be between if Georgia stays in or Oregon and Baylor(if they win) would get the 4th spot.

I would think if Georgia loses, the 4th playoff team will be 1 loss Oklahoma and Big 12 champ. Oregon has 2 losses.

With Georgia getting a beat down by LSU, Clempson could probably lose tonight and still get in (as well as Ohio St.), as the rest of the top 10 below them will all have 2 losses.

Poor Ole Miss. Things go from bad to worse.

Like I said...

Move over Tennessee, there's a new dumpster fire in the conference.
They're replicating Tennessee's dumpster fire perfectly. :D

LSU will be playing Oklahoma at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, GA
Clempson will be playing Ohio State at the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, AZ

Guess I'll be rooting for Tigers in both first round games. :D
A Tiger Bowl in New Orleans would be fun to watch.

OSU is dead if they play like they did last night against Clemson. Clemson and OSU both will have chips on their shoulders with OSU saying that they should have been number 1 and Clemson not getting the respect they deserve. This is going to be a great game if OSU stays the course. Coach Day has some coaching up to do. :cheer :cheer :cheer

Was tempted to grab a couple tickets for the Peach Bowl and take the boys, but they were $500+/ea earlier in the week, probably more now that the teams have been announced.

I'll never understand rooting for your conference rivals to win. Oklahoma wants Texas to lose, so Texas isn't so attractive to recruits.
But I expect Oklahoma to lose convincingly to LSU. Turnovers will kill them, and the crowd will be an LSU crowd.

For me it's that I like both Clempson and LSU better than Choklahoma and Ohio State.

In the final I'll be rooting for Clempson to win, even though they're my alma mater's biggest conference rival (or were back when we were relevent).

But as to why you root for your rivals, it's fairly simple. You're familiar with those teams, and thus have more of an attachment than the team they're playing in the bowl (likely a team you care little about).

Okay, checked the prices again. The ones I saw earlier in the week were Primesport packages. The Peach Bowl just released general admission tickets. They're $200/ea up in the nosebleeds.

Tempted to grab some, as I'm under an hour away from the stadium, and the game is on a Saturday where I have nothing planned. Boys might enjoy it. Would have preferred seeing Clempson, but LSU is almost as good.

Geaux! Should be fun!

Buckeyes will be fine ...
You obviously only watched the 1st half ...
Days half time adjustments this year have been fabulous.
1/2 way thru the 4th quarter Wisconsin had 23 total yards in the half.

Clemson's over confidence is gonna kill them if they think they can just show up and win.

All the teams in the Playoffs (and Georgia ... they would have been the other option) the Buckeyes have a connection too.
There fore, it didn't matter to me who they played and when.

Right there with you! We we want Michigan to lose every game. Every single one. Go Bama!!

It's hard to beat a team twice. I was listening to ESPNU radio today.

They already gave Georgia and Bama an excuse if they lose. It was..... you know they probably won't show up to those games. They both wanted in the playoffs.

I guess another round of.... "They didn't want to be there". Excuses if they lose.

yeah, I hate when they do that. The local paper has been asking if Georgia will be up to it, making excuses for losing to Baylor already (same as they did last year when they lost to Texas after making a huge production of why they should have been in the play off.

Sorry, but a lose is a lose.

Bama people root for Aubarn to lose all the time. But a difference might be because most of the teams down here have an in-state team as their biggest rival. That leads more towards divided loyalties, as opposed to schools where the rival is someone from out-of-state, giving you no reason to root for them.

Back when I was a kid, I would root against Ga Tech (grew up in a UGA household), but then I went to Tech. Could never develop the hatred people at school had for Georgia (mostly people from out-of-state), so I just root for both (except when they play each other).

Personally, now I think it’s silly to actually hate a team, I just prefer to enjoy the game, and generally root for my favored of the two to win, not for one of them to lose.
