Dish trying to get Disney to kick back some ESPN fees

The nfl draft and the Jordan documentary have been the two highest watched programs on traditional tv since the super bowl. Charlie is being an idiot if he thinks he has any chance of winning.
The Draft was on multiple channels, including locals. It wasn’t just espn. So they offered two shows in a months time?

So what are you watching that you have to subscribe to dish? Sounds to me, that all the “I don’t watch that channel” subscribers have zero reason to subscribe to any cable/dish provider. You guys don’t watch sports, don’t watch Viacom, don’t watch the fox/Disney channels, don’t need to pay for your locals, so what are you paying for? Why even own a tv?

Does anyone think that *IF* Charlie gets money back from Disney that he'll pass those savings along to his customers (us)?
Didn't we get a bunch of freeview stuff? Well, people in Welcome Pack at least? And that was upfront.

ESPN has had no live sports programming on for a month. The only reason to have ESPN is for live sports programming. This would be like TCM not showing classic movies or MTV not showing music videos... okay that second one was a bad example. ESPN's whole purpose doesn't exist right now. With Brady is Tampa, there is almost nothing to even talk about now.

I'm paying less for Starz than people are paying for ESPN at the moment... but I'm getting movies on Starz and almost no advertised programming on ESPN (well, if I got it). So ESPN is not providing sports programming, why should Dish be paying for it.

And it does go down the chain, why should ESPN be paying for the rights to broadcast certain things, if those events aren't happening. But Dish is right to ask for a refund.

That's because there wasn't anything in sports that wasn't a rerun on. It was something "NEW"

As with 100000 other things in all aspects of business relationships in this current crisis, this comes down to contractual language particularly "force majeure" or "act of God" clauses. It will be settled, quietly, meticulously, and professionally by lawyers, executives, accountants, and insurance companies in the coming years, not by making blustering statements in the NY Post tabloid.

Which ups the fees that we pay for the lawyers etc.

Yup, however they get paid that tons of money regardless, so wouldn’t effect our bills changing. Now they are just earning their paychecks(not saying they weren’t before when it comes to Charlie).

Of course he won't. But I am sure that Directv would especially being owned by that pro-consumer company AT&T.

Wow, talk about drinking the Kool-aid. What Directv would/would not get really has nothing to do with the discussion. IMO, *IF* Disney offers Charlie a discount (I don't expect it), the only "fair" thing would be to pass the majority (like 95%) of that discount on to HIS customers. WE'RE the ones paying.

Sorry, that's your (and my) opinion. I'm sure there are people who like the non-live sports programming.

Would it be better that he rescinds the credit from anyone receiving a credit currently, and only offer it to those paying for ESPN, and not receiving any credits already(for any reason) since technically, they are not paying it?
