The end of Directv

The good news is AT&T Tv pays the same as a regular Directv sale. However if your in the city and sell a traditional Directv system, then your commission is reduced almost 60%.

That makes sense, since it costs them more to do the initial install of Directv due to the customer visit, they want to encourage new installs on AT&T TV instead.

People who really want Directv would have to pay to have it installed to make up that difference in commission. I said before on many occasions I thought AT&T would encourage new installs to be on AT&T TV because it is cheaper, and they might start charging for installs to make it happen. Looks like they've effectively done that for third party installs, just have to wait and see when they do that explicitly for new installs through Directv.

How do they determine if you're "in the city"? What about people who live in a city but have crappy internet where they are?

I’m not sure. The letter I say was it was “TBD” by AT&T.

But I would much rather make $280 to sell AT&T Tv, vs the $125 for a Directv sale

So now you have to sell them AT&T TV and cable internet service.

I wonder whats going to happen to the DIRECTV guys at Costcos?

This policy seems to fly in the face of the rumors about AT&T selling or merging DTV. If you were looking to do that you would do everything you can to pump up the business to make it look more attractive to a possible suitor. This looks more like sitting in a tub of warm water and slitting your wrists. A year ago the analysts were talking about divestiture and how AT&T stock would go up with the likeliest scenario being acquisition by Dish. What this move says to me is no one is interested in acquiring DTV so out of desperation AT&T is now scrambling to force a customer base transition to streaming as a way to save at least some of their investment. Man I wouldn't want to even think about the size of the write-offs when they finally kill DTV. Don't count on any dividend checks for a while. I think a lot more heads are going to roll before this is all over.

Looks like to me they are getting ready to sell Directv.

I would assume any Directv sale wouldn’t include AT&T Tv and their internet service side of the business.

I don’t sell Directv to consumers.

We only do Directv business accounts. I sell Comcast and Spectrum to my residential customers.
you couldn't give me anything from spectrum.. they love to price gouge and there customer service sucks... i had a tech tell me one time that all of the macro blocking and motion blur was how they broadcasted. then he started flapping hid jaw about how awsome 4K looked o_O . i was like dude your either not trained or just plain outright stupid or lazy to myself. the wire where i was living inside the wall is shot it took em 2 years to figure that out. trying to get it replaced was another uphill battle its still not fixed 3 years later. if the mods don't like what you post in there forums they delete it.. screw spectrum. you threaten to cancel the reps don't care it's almost like they want you to leave :D. and the world box is the biggest POS i have used :coco . though the guides much better than the DTV guide

The people that were working at the local Costco are no lo\nger there, they took the 3rd party D* people out of therea month or so ago.

The Comcast people where taken out of Walmart and Best Buy also.

They assigned one of the area sales managers for Best Buy and Walmart to train my agents who work in my call center.

Even the door to door guys where let go.

It’s all about social distancing. They don’t want any contact with customers to spread the virus.

verizon's 5G offers me anywhere from 7 GBS down to 18 GBS down with near to zero latency ;) :p. not everyone will get that exp depending how far the tower is away from em topical foilage ect ect
Lucky to get 5g PHONE service from Verizon...hard to find

I still don't really get this ....

What are the avg. home veiwership numbers like anyway?

For instance at present there are six DIRECTV DVRs in use in our home right now veiwing and/or recording live programming for about 8 required streams.

So how is AT&T TV with a paltry 3 stream max. limit supposed to work here?

Or is our household just very "atypical" or something?

I think I remember reading that they can add more streams to AT&T TV through a software update.

Your not the average home.

Remember when Dish tried telling us that a 3 Tuner Hopper with Prime Time was all that we needed?

Same thing here. Most people they can get away with it because they don’t know the difference.

I forget who did it, but they did a study and realized lots of people had a DVR and never recorded 1 show on it.

My grandmother was in the same boat. I literally programmed her DVR to record my shows to watch when I was there.

Then she called me at midnight trying to figure out why there was a red light that was always on.

yep LA was one of the first to get it. i have the whole home 5G broad band as well. in fact that's how they started it out here is with the whole home 5G service i have a sammy S 10 5G
They only offer speeds up to 940Mbps. Not sure how you think you are getting above gigabit

What internet speeds should I expect with 5G Home Internet?
You should expect ultrafast internet speeds using the new 5G Home Internet service with typical speeds around 300 Mbps and, depending on your location, maximum speeds up to 940 Mbps.

Your not alone. However though there must be some data on active connections since YTTV is limited to 3 streams also. We have 6 clients on our house with 4 possibly going at one time. But obviously with streaming you have no recording limit.
