Now that Spa is back in the satellite lineup, I've accepted a winback offer to turn my car radio back on. It's $29.94 for 6 months and includes streaming.

Using an app to stream in the car is cumbersome and directly related to cellular availability. Even with Verizon, there are a couple of dead spots on my way to work. With SXM, it's always-on and I can change channels on the steering wheel without having to touch the phone while driving.

I'm glad SXM decided to return Spa to the satellite lineup. Let's hope they don't muck with it again.

I'm still using FTA satellite music channels in the house and IMO it's better than SXM, but for the car, SXM is better.

I'm not sure what the impetus behind listening to relaxation sounds and music is while driving. There's enough drivers out there that seem to be asleep at the wheel without a radio adding its sleep-inducing contribution.

Trust me, if you had to deal with the people I have to deal with 8 hours a day 5 days a week, you'd need relaxation in the car too :biggrin

I think you actually agree with us since it was Calm that's boring enough to put people to sleep. You just haven't noticed anything engaging on Spa as yet. Are there occsional slow tracks on Spa that drone on for a long time? Yes, but in that case I just switch to SD card. New Age music is supposed to be interesting enough to listen to as a primary activity. It is not supposed to be elevator music or anything like the Calm channel.

I fully agree with CN. I have an extremely aggravating commute around the Washington Beltway. Or at least, I did before the pandemic. Spa was excellent to retain or regain my serenity after lunatic drivers with a death wish do something really stupid.

Yes, I tried streaming SiriusXM (the Spa channel in particular) to my Dot. But at the time I used the free preview. I don't think it matters whether I was using the free preview or my own car subscription. But I found, to my chagrin, that I could not ask Alexa what song my Dot was playing like I can when streaming Amazon Music. My Echo Show doesn't show that information (like my car does) either. This negates the reason I listen to Spa, which is to discover new (or old) artists I have never heard of before, so I can buy more of their stuff. Artists get only pennies/stream/song, so I think I am helping them to make more music if I buy a download or a whole album.

Do you use the synchronous feature, or individual streams? If you are streaming SiriusXM, can you figure out what song is playing? How do you "bluetooth them" to your satellite receiver? I can imagine if the satellite receiver is a source, but going the other way has me .

I have an alexa enabled bluetooth device in my car and would love to have this, but at home on my echo dot I use Google assistant on my phone by asking "OK google what is this song" on my cellphone. It answers through my phone but its better than waiting for them to update the Alexa skill. It wont work in the car since Google interupts the bluetooth connection when you say OK google which stops the song so you get "nothing playing". I havent figured it out yet for in the car aside from having 2 phones.

When I first turned on the Spa channel this morning, I heard something much more like Calm than Spa. Then I was "treated" to some feng shui pseudo-scientific mumbo jumbo. Even worse IMHO! If they want to balance out my energy, they should not start spouting Feng Shui. Bah!

Did they make any channel changes this morning, or do they normally drone on one note ad infinitum on Saturday morning? :crying Now back to some Arkenstone, so I think it was just their awful selection this morning. I hope I don't have to suffer more Feng Shui nonsense again in the future. Bah humbug!
