Bankers Predicting Sale of DTV

Speaking of this, went to BJ’s on Friday and they have the AT&T sales person there just like Costco used to with DirecTV.

While looking at TVs ( moving soon) he came up to me, first asking about my cell phone provider then quickly moved into AT&T Now and the lying started immediately, said there was no commitment, said the price stays the same for 2 years and then said I could leave after a year with no charge ( if there was no commitment why would I have to stay a year), I just walked away, I did not have it in me to dispute his lies.

the lying started immediately

ATT is a disaster. The son of a coworker has been moved into his new house for at least a month and ATT hasn't been able to supply his fiber-fed internet since. They've dug up his yard, the neighbor's yards, to no avail. A bunch of idiots working for the one of the world's largest bureaucratic failures.

How is Dish able to afford this but they can’t afford to pay for certain channels?
Dish doesn't pay for channels, you do. All Dish is trying to do is keep the rates they have to charge under control. It's ridiculous how people complain about Dish not paying (too much) for a channel but then turn around and complain about the rate increase when they do. If Dish kowtowed to every over-priced demand the bill would be beyond $300 a month and heading towards $400. You willing to pay that? Thought not. Can't have your cake and eat it too.

So the price should drop when they drop a channel following that logic

Well, to be fair, AT&T TV Now does not require a contract. Not so sure about the rest, but it sounds like they were confusing different services.

What if I want to cancel?

Need a break from the entertainment (a TV-sabbatical, if you will)—no worries! With AT&T TV NOW™ we’ll never lock you into an annual contract, and you can cancel your service at any time. No questions asked.

I've already had my AT&T Fiber cut once by a lawn mower because of their incompetent contractors that did a piss poor job of burying the line. Left a 8" section poking up out of the ground. I was without internet for two days until a tech could come out to double splice in a new piece. Then 3 days later the bury contractor comes out, buries the splice but leaves the last 10 feet before the pole unburied. I call the buried line department and they said they'd look into. 2 weeks later I've heard nothing and it's still not buried. The level of incompetence and waste by this company has left me appalled. I suggested that they switch me to a aerial drop and they want me to pay $200 for them to do that, crazy. I guess it's cheaper for them to pay a fiber fusing tech $60/hr (plus the expensive water tight boxes) to come splice it every time it gets cut because their line bury contractors are incompetent.

I ran the fiber for them. Had the installer leave the fiber and ran it in my conduit with my cable tv service from Comcast

That same tech is going to run the line, buried or aer.

The Contractor is actually to blame in this instance, you get good companies and not as good companies doing the buring ...
I have seen them go thru a lot of companies for that job.

Fwiw, its usually the other way around, people ask for the buried, much more than aer.

Also, keep in mind, buring the line once your up and running is not at the top of the priority list ... when you are Out of Service your at the top of the list.

I let them do that. I just ran the fiber as I had a 2 inch conduit from my basement, and up the utility pole with a weather head.

The installer wanted to run it overhead or accross the lawn
Your idea is better and were always willing to do it in your conduit, provided your there when we are.

Otherwise across the lawn and buried by the contractors wehn your name comes up ... Fwiw, I always tried to run the property line when ever possible ... How the contractor buries is is up to them, they are suppose to run it how we lay it, some do, some don't.
