I just reactivated one of my car radios that had been inactive for a few months. 1 year of Select for $60 ($72 with tax and royalty fees) includes streaming, Howard and a 3rd Gen Echo Dot.

Deal

I did as well. I now have a plumb-colored 3rd gen Dot.

Just remember the date you signed up for this deal because now that they have your credit card number and this deal expires they will charge you full price.;)

I did this recently for my wife's car. Not only did I get a free 3rd gen Dot, but also a free smart plug.

I just did the same deal. I'm waiting for the 3rd gen dot. Not really sure what that is though. Can I listen to Sirius on that or do I need to subscribe or buy something else? Thanks

Go for the free smart plug as well, if that deal is still available (from Amazon).

The 3rd gen Dot has a nice cloth surround which comes in a variety of colors, and a better speaker. I listen to SiriusXM on my Alexa devices (using my car radio subscription) all the time. The SiriusXM skill has several shortcomings IMHO. But just listening to the linear channel works fine.

Yes, you can link your Sirius XM account and listen on your dot. You can also listen to TuneIn, iHeart radio, Pandora, Amazon music etc. There are thousands of stations to listen to. They are a lot of fun.

My sub expires at the end of the month. I asked for this deal and they wouldn't give it to me so I cancelled. I'm not going to pay full price when every year they eliminate another channel or celebrity that I like.

For example, XM Music Lab, Beyond Jazz, XM Public Radio (with Bob Edwards), getting rid of Cousin Brucie on 60's on 6 and the dozens of XM channels with deep playlists that "merged" with Sirius channels that wound up repeating the same songs over and over during the day. That's my short list of grievances with the company since I joined in 2004. Out of ~140 channels I only listen to maybe 7 or 8 tops. I listen to a lot of progressive rock at home. SXM has 35 or so Rock channels. Not a single one is dedicated to Prog Rock. There are several internet streams that that provide that to me for free.

Sorry for being a bummer but this has been bugging me for a long time. XM was great when I first joined. Things really started going down hill for me about a year or two after the merger in 2007. Not honoring a deal that everyone else is getting for a long time customer of 16 years was the straw that broke the camels back. I'm done.

You know that they will offer it to you after a couple of months pass.
You are probably right. I just bought a couple of high capacity flash drives though. I have 2 terabytes of music on my NAS server to chose from. That deal is going to have to be extra special to entice my return. Its a shame that they'd treat a long time subscriber like that. Oh well, their loss, not mine.
