None of this really makes any sense. Games were moved because new cases were being found still. Raiders may only have one player out.

Bye weeks start week 4 and end week 12, they aren't all 'towards the middle'.

Even week 4 is to early ... Week 6 should be the earliest. 6-10

Jeff Garcia was critiquing Cam Newton’s wardrobe following his press conference after yesterday’s embarrassing loss to the 49ers. He said (paraphrasing), that Cam shouldn’t have dressed like that after such a humiliating performance. He went on to say Joe Namath dressed very flamboyantly, but at least he could back it up. For frame of reference, here’s the 3 quarterbacks won-loss record (and yeah I realize that Broadway Joe won a Super Bowl). Looks like Garcia’s “take” was even more embarrassing than Cam’s performance.

And I was surprised to see that Joe Namath was below .500 for his career. Goes to show how much the narrative can change for one game.

Played for the Jets, what'd you expect. :D

I think the concern with Newton is his recent stats aren't nearly as good as they were. Simply put, the Pats ran into a wall with Tom Brady at the helm last year. Not improving things, and going to Cam Newton doesn't make those problems go away. For me, Newton has to go out there and try. We go 6-10, whatev's, but he needs to make the best of what is out there. Sadly, I don't get to see much Patriot football out of market.

Though I think the Pats have been on as many times as Liverpool have. *sigh*

And the opt outs didn’t help either (not that the Patriots were going to win the Super Bowl with them).

The Joe Namath thing intrigues me. Without looking at any stats, if someone asked me who had the better career, Cam Newton or Joe Namath, ten times out of ten I would have said Joe Namath > Cam Newton. And that’s not because Namath won a Super Bowl and Newton has not, because if the same question was asked to me, Cam Newton > Trent Dilfer and Cam Newton > Mark Rypien. I just think “The Guarantee” made Namath larger than life, and I admittedly say that in hindsight.

I have the same issue with Namath ...
When I was growing up, my Uncle was a Big Namath and Jets fan, so I heard about him ALL the time ....
He was the best there ever was, back then, from what my Uncle made me believe ...

I don't like or dislike him ... but there are a lot of QB's that have one a SB ... that weren't exactly Great.

I agree with everything you just said. I actually like Joe a lot, but hearing about him growing up (and actually seeing the tail end of his career with the Jets and Rams) made me think he was better than he actually was.

I wonder how teams/ players would do today with the goal post in the middle of play ?

I watch a lot of NFL Films on YouTube (especially “NFL Game of the Week” with Harry Kalas- IMO, one of the greatest produced sports shows ever) and you see the goalposts in the middle of the end zone as recently as the mid 70’s. It actually bothers me to see the goalposts there.

That's right, MNF tonight... Pats can win a game... they are playing the Jets!

When you're a Jet, you know you won't make the playoffs.

Does the name Doug Williams ring a bell? Only QB to win a SB and have a career stat of less than 50% (49.5%) completion ratio, TD to INT - 100/93 and a QB rating of 69.4. But he's got the ring!
