DISH Support the Resume button while still recording is now missing since the latest Hopper 3 software version U936 update. The Resume button is not available until the program has finished recording. This feature was finally added after many years of not being there for DISH’s DVRs and now it is gone. I have used many DVRs thru the years (Charter, Verizon, & Direct TV) and they always had the Resume button while the program was still recording. This feature is nice to have especially watching sports programs. I don’t know why it was deleted in the latest software update! Can you please pass on to DISH support and have it added next software up or sooner? Thanks

They changed the wording on the buttons and also the default, which is now something like Watch From The Beginning. The Watch Live button now resumes. Try it; you'll like it. Other than the crappy wording.

BTW - don't hold me to the exact new button wording. I may have gotten those wrong but you get the idea.

Thanks TheKrell. I will check it out.

That's not true. The pause option is gone and the watch live option does not serve as the pause button. I have complained to Dish, but their reps do not care.

What pause option/button? I didn't mention that so how can what I said be untrue? Charles and I are talking about what buttons you see when you select a program from the DVR menu when that program is still recording.

I have the same setup. If I am recording multiple football games and I want to come back and resume what I was watching from that same point in one of those games I can no longer do so because the resume option is gone. I believe that is what the original poster was talking about.

What happens when you go back to your recording and select the live button? Wife is watching something and I can't do any testing right now.

I thought we were talking about chase play of a recording still in progress. Suppose you start over watching a recording in progress and then switch channels. Then when you return to that program using the DVR menu, you should see a (don't hold me to the exact wording) Start over from the beginning and watch live. The start over does indeed do what it always has. The watch live resumes. At least it has for me on two occasions. Do you see different buttons now than you did before? These buttons changed with U936.

As an example, if I am recording a game and leave to watch a different game that I am also recording, when I come back to the original game that is still recording and I left it in the first quarter, watch live will take me to where that game is in progress if I was watching it live as an examp be in the a lot of that game. Dish rep told me to just rewind it back. hat's npt what I wan

The watch live during a recording. When I come back to that it does not resume it shows the program where it is in current progress. Dish rep told me to just rewind the college football games. Stupid. Need resume back.

Well, there's a variation I never tried. What I was doing was switching to another channel that is not recording, and then go back to the recording still in progress. I never tried this switching between two recordings in progress.

Maybe you do not record multiple sports programs at the same time. If you did you would understand what the original poster and I are talking about. After a program has fully recorded then and only then is the resume button available.

It worked once for me TheKrell. Went to show the wife and then it didn't work. Will do more testing later.

Weird.
I didn't think there was ever a way to leave a recording in progress and resume where you left off. The only options I remember in that scenario are watch live or start from the beginning.

Yeah, the only way I got to resume with the DVR menu was by using the Recall button instead, also to and from a live channel and not from two recordings. That has been working for a long time already.

Can you test this when you get a chance?

It was working for me dishdude. I was so shocked that DISH added the feature after wanting it for bunches of years. The Resume button while still recording is gone now.

I've never used the recall button to resume a recording, I'll have to experiment with it.

might not be the same, and might not help, but here is what i do watching 2 programs.
I use the input button to swap between the 2, FF RW get to where i want to be, or if caught up, then I pause and hit input to swap to the other programming I pause that then swap back. this works well for me.
hope this makes sense.
