Does anyone know when DTV's deal for NFL ST ends? Is it after 2021?

I've tried to google this, I keep getting the 2021 season is the last on DirecTVs exclusive deal, how likely is it for the NFL to decide to move to streaming only, when not everyone has high speed internet, I pay $75 a month for Spectrum, only provider in my area, besides DSL, and I don't get the correct speeds for download, plus it goes in and out.

Anyway, I'm hoping they at least keep it for traditional TV providers, even if(it should) it's on all providers, no reason it shouldn't be. The NFL could make so much more for the people who refuse to get DTV.

Agree I also suffer from horific docsis service.

My directv is more reliable than this horific service they call cable broadband.

I'm hoping it will be directv plus an online option with more features like NFL game pass or MLB.TV

I personally think there is no way a cable company could do NFL ST , look at how companies like Comcast are compressing all channels doen to 720p ...

Cable companies already do the NHL, NBA, MLB and MLS packages, there is no technical reason they couldn't do NFL Sunday Ticket. There are 14 HD channels available for the NHL and MLB and 10 HD channels available for the NBA and MLS. That's up to 24 games at the same time, which provide plenty of coverage on Friday and Saturday nights when the NHL and NBA are in season. There are probably no more than 8 - 9 NFL games on simultaneously, and less when Bye weeks are going on.

What speeds are you getting? What modem do you have, is it a 32 x 4 channel? You're ruling out any wifi related problems, correct? When you called Charter to set up a service appointment, what did they say about your slow speeds and service issues? What did they say you're signal levels are?

DirecTV's current deal to carry NFL Sunday Ticket extends through the 2022 season. (The NFL's broadcast contracts with Fox, CBS and NBC all go through 2022 as well.) So DTV's got it for two more seasons. After that, I'd expect another big collapse in DTV's subscriber numbers, because I doubt that they keep NFL ST after the current contract ends. (And if they do, it won't be on an exclusive basis.)

Well I'm paying for 100mbps, I get around 20 according to speedtest.net. Idk what router/modem I have, I probably need a new one. I've talked to Spectrum/Charter, they keep saying the same thing everything is fine on our end, yet we get kicked off, or slow internet speed. They refuse to come out and check the lines.

iirc, its 2021 or 2022 ... don't remember which ...

My personal opinion is they will sign with a Streaming service as well as D*.
That's what I'm thinking, they do a streaming service, like ESPN+, or Amazon Prime, and then keep it on DTV, but for far less than the $1.5B they're paying for it, cause that's ridiculous price to pay for it, especially when it's not making them money. Plus the ticket is so damn expensive every year, I got lucky, they gave it to me free(max) when I was notified on draft day by email that I was getting it for free. I've also have gotten free 2 other times, back when AT&T sent a flyer to my home saying add a line of service to my wireless account, and get 2yrs free of a sports package, I was surprised that NFL ST was one of them. I've never paid full price, I've always been able to get something off of it. I never had the offers they have now, back in 2006 it was $79.99 for 3 months for every channel, then after that you had to pay more or lower the package. Plus we didn't have a HDTV yet. So I think the last 2 or 3 years I was finally able to get them to give me new customer like deals, one year was like $60 off a month for 12 months with a 1yr commitment, and the last one in August 2020 they gave me $70 off a month for 12 months with no commitment. I'll be doing that again, since I am paying a lot if I didn't have the credits, since I have NBA, and NHL, plus Starz, Sports, and that Xtra Package of movie channels, plus Xtra Package. And my RSN fee is frigging $9.99 a month.

I also noticed under my programming that you can add NFL ST for $37.99 a month for 6 months, or 1 payment of $227.94, no mention of NFL ST MAX. Also my bill before the NBA and NHL seasons began was only $95 a month due to the $70 off, plus I was getting $17 off of Starz and Sports, but for some reason it's no longer available to me, and I get $15 off a month for having ATT Unlimited plan.

Never in my LIFE have I ever got an offer of anything close to $50 or more off a month.

I generally could get them to give me ST for around $180 a year, which I feel is decent.

The majority of Charter's footprint is now at 200 Mbps for standard service, some area's are still at 100 though. Most, if not all of the service regions in NY should be at 200.

Have you done any troubleshooting? Swap out Ethernet cables? Remove the router from the mix and plug the modem directly into the PC? How many downstream channels is your modem capable of bonding? Have you viewed the signal levels on your modem? I'm guessing you don't have one of the new Spectrum branded D3.1 modems which have no GUI so you should be able to see your levels. Complaining on the internet about your service isn't going to get it fixed and assuming it's a problem on Charter's end is the wrong conclusion. The onus is on you to rule out your own equipment and then escalate to technical support. If everything is fine on their end, that it's your hardware that is at fault.

If you're signal levels are borderline you'll see intermitted service and you need to have them come out and correct the problem.

My downstream signal levels are between 2.4 dBmV and 3.6 dBmV across all 31 QAMs, 4.5 dBmV on the OFDMA channel, SNR in between 42 and 44 dB, upstream levels all at 45.2 dBmV . Gigabit router, gigabit switches and 10 Gb NIC. I have no problems getting 920 - 945 Mbps down when connected to my router or 1150+ Mbps when connected directly to my PC.

Also you need to factor in all the business , restaurants and casino that have direcTV and NFL ST.

As stated, two more seasons as an exclusive, the 2023 season will be the first under whatever new contract(s) emerge, though they may be announced as early as this time next year. My expectation is that they will keep the exclusive for commercial public viewing accounts only. It is still worth it to them there, and one of the main reasons Directv has a near monopoly on restaurants/bars/casinos/etc.

Unless someone is willing to pay for an exclusive for consumers (which I doubt) then it will be sold via multiple providers including Directv and AT&T TV and they'll have a normal per subscriber fee instead of the flat fee structure Directv has always had with the NFL which enabled them to use NFLST as a giveaway so often.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a single team subscriptions offered as well, for probably half the cost of the full subscription.

Third paragraph...

ESPN is weighing a bid for rights to the NFL’s out-of-market Sunday Ticket package, with the intent of putting the games on ESPN+, according to The Information.

UGH! I hope that doesn't work out.

This is fundamentally incorrect. Understand that DirecTV OVERPAYS for NFLST. It pays the NFL MORE than DirecTV takes in in subscriber fees. It LOSES money on the venture on a cash basis.

Why? Because DirecTV believes that many people, and probably more importantly most sports bars and the like, get DirecTV for their regular TV needs because it provides access to DirecTV.

Now if it were available through multiple providers, the fee the NFL would receive would be zero, just some %age of the subscriber fee. Which would be far less than DirecTV pays now. Far less.

As to me, I have never understood the NFLST appeal. In most places you get two games at 1 ET and one at 4:25, plus games on Thursday, Sunday night and Monday night. That is 6 out of a highest possible (in a no bye week) 16 games. Paying big $$ to watch a max of 10 games (which assumes you would have 12 TVs, which nobody does), on at exactly the same time as free games I just don't get.

A lot of that appeal is from people that have thier Favorite team that is NOT thier Home team ....
I would probably only see about 3 or 4 Steelers games a year without the ST ...
Been watching them weekly since 1980's (late).

Remember, the ST was around before Directv was.

Sunday ticket was around before directv? Thought it was always exclusive to directv in the US

I believe NFL ST launched in 94...

The concept of NFL Sunday Ticket was largely invented by Jon Taffer during his three-year term on the board of NFL Enterprises, along with NFL Chief of Marketing Michael Miller.[9] NFL Sunday Ticket was launched in 1994 and was available on both DirecTV (which had launched just months earlier) and on C band and Ku band satellites, for which the receiving dishes are larger in size.[citation needed] Within several years, the service became available on various cable systems in Canada as well.
