Well shoot..... after more than 20 years here with only FTA and OTA to watch, we decided to go with Orby, and that was great for us for a while, but ya know how that turned out! BUT SWMBO got spoiled by it, and now it's over, and she's beginning the "What about Dish" monologue. I've been resisting, but she don't listen. Women are completely unreasonable.
So..... I've started looking at this super duper Orby orphan deal Dish is offering. I'm not impressed. More than half of it looks like junk filler channels nobody watches, but are included just to get the channel count up.
No sports, which we don't care about, but no news channels unless you count CNN. FNC heading in the wrong direction anyway so no biggie there, but I don't see NewsMax or One America either.
I tell ya guys, looks like I'm gonna have to cave if I want to keep peace, but I'm draggin my feet for all I'm worth.
Happy wife....happy life.

I also miss Orby.. I've had Dish for over 20yrs now in one form or another and the price increases in the last 5 yrs are crazy..Back in 2017 I signed up a 2 yr contact with dish Top 120plus package price lock was $49.99 ..now the same package is $79.99...Now I have flex pack + variety pack add on to get ID and LMN for wife with 3 owned receivers and pay $68 month..Dish doesn't give you near the amount of entertainment channels that Orby did.. I posted a while back the comparison of the two.Does no good to complain though..It's the price you have to pay for TV..

I think most people are tired of getting their a**reamed by DTV and Dish..They both suck...Overseas customer care..all of their bs DVR fees..I only have dish mainly for camping.. Nobody is crawling back.. I've kept my dish account the whole time I had Orby.. but I use the pre-pay RV account..Dish and DTV will disappear in the near future. Its all about streaming and Charlie wants to play phone man..

You all switched to Orby to get away from Dish and Directv.

Don’t be crawling back

We first signed on with Dish as a pay-as-you-go subscriber in 2008 for intermittent RV use. When we eventually became fulltime RV'ers a few years later with no need to stop the service, I saw no reason to change anything except to upgrade our owned receiver from a 211K to an owned Hopper w/Sling. Later on we dropped the TWC (Spectrum) TV service at our family cottage, keeping only a now grandfathered seniors Internet service at $15/mo and added another owned Hopper w/Sling there. We've never needed Dish tech support of any sort, and our only customer service contacts were for service address changes, usually via chat sessions. Now that we easily handle that with the MyDish app, even that contact is no longer needed. I think it's safe to say we're quite happy with our Dish service, and have no intention of dropping it until we're eventually satisfied with the quality and coverage of cell Internet or Starlink goes mobile and we switch to streaming. Assuming we find a good package that meets our needs without having to jump around several apps.

Well to me the loss of Orby TV is just further evidence that the idea of offering a low cost linear pay TV service is just not sustainable. ...

It just seems that for linear TV at least, anything other than the free advertisement supported OTA model that's been around forever is not stable. The moment it goes to the pay model cost control eventually becomes impossible bringing down the entire service.

Do yourself a favor and don't watch the news. It'll just upset you anyways, $55 bucks for the first year is a pretty good deal

This is very misinformed. DTV is in trouble, but Dish has diversified into so many different area's, they'll be solvent for a very long time

I never said Dish was in trouble..I should have said Satellite TV will disappear..With rocket man shooting up all of the satellites for internet services they will pull the people away in the rural areas from paying the high price of satellite TV to paying for satellite internet services.. Charlie better think more about internet services which I'm sure he is with his phone plan..They will join all of the rest of the masses with streaming...If you look around now most people under 40 don't use cable or satellite TV..The only people paying the high priced Satellite services of over $125 month are the older generation..The DVR hype will die off soon when most people stream more...No need for a DVR when its available anytime..

Under 40?? I'd say that easily, 90% of my customers are above the age of 65 these days

Those little satellites are going to cost a pretty penny to get internet service.
