As detailed in my other thread my 622 might be nearing the end of it's useful life. While looking at all the options for upgrade (besides a 722 or 722k) I am now considering either a Hopper 3 or Duo and a wireless Joey.
Am I correct in that the fees are the same now whether owned or leased?
Any recommendation of internet retailers for Dish equipment?
Do the Hoppers have the ability to add an OTA antenna? And guide data?
How well does the wireless Joey work?Really done with running any wires at this point.

Sort of, the first Hopper in an account does not have a fee, but you get charged DVR service (Hopper1/2/3=$15, HopperDuo=$10). Leased Joey's are $7, and purchased ones are $5 (if you can get a nice deal on one used that is not leased by someone else go for it, but retail price is $100 which is not worth it since it would take 50 months to pay for itself).

Personally bought from solidsignal.com and dishformyrv.com with no issues, YMMV however since I've heard of some not so good experiences with SS

All Hoppers are able to have a USB OTA tuner connected, I use the one sold by AirTV. They are integrated in the guide, recordable (up to two tuners on the recent tuner model), and guide data Is available, but not for all channels.

If your link to the AP is decent then it works, but mine is significantly slower navigating menus/guide than the H3/4kJ. Occasional need to reboot the AP, but only every few months. Would still recommend hard wired (and if you have a way to get Ethernet to it you can do that as well)

Do you need to watch two different channels at the same time? If not, a Wally would be perfect.
Not often but occasionally. I guess enough that I don't want to give it up.
But assuming I went with a Wally how many tuners does it have?Like can I only record one show at a time? What about the 2nd tv?Would it still use a wireless Joey?Fees?

2 sat tuners + 2 OTA tuners if you add the USB dongle. One time $40 fee to activate the DVR function, no monthly fees. You'd need to use your current wireless transmitter to get it to the bedroom TV. (Assume it uses the SD yellow/red/white composite RCA outputs from the current 622).

I have one Wally that runs the entire house. Between streaming, Dish Anywhere and OTA, no need to watch two different sat channels at the same time. Barely watch one!

Did not think of that in the previous post, that is a pretty good idea. Use the transmitter, and buy an extra remote for the bedroom. The Wally is a dual tuner, but only one video out (the composite and hdmi signals would be the same picture, and composite would be SD), so think of it as a imaginary vip212 (or 612 if DVR enabled). If you have a 1000.2 on the roof already (or whatever setup that gets you all the sats you need down a DPP line) then it would work on the same cable as the 622 minus the separator. Only downside being the inability to watch 2 separate channels at the same time at each location. But 2 tuners (4 total if using the OTA dongle) for recording.
Would also eliminate the $7 fee you are paying now (after the $40 one time).

What does Dish anywhere do for me?(I have no interest in watching the the contents of my dvr on my cellphone while on a train etc).
For people that do not have a sling capable receiver (Hopper2/3), it could be used to watch on demand content and certain channels over the internet over a "live stream" (the channels you can watch are limited, since they are delivered over the internet and only certain providers allow that, notably locals are not available most of the time). Hopper2/3 will allow for viewing recordings, and most other channels not available otherwise (that's what the sling capability is for, it allows the Hopper to transmit a video feed to your device over the internet). Main pain point to it is the lack of compatibility with some smart tv's (afaik only on Android TV/AmazonFire, no app for Roku/Apple TV). It's also available on mobile (both Android and IOS)

I use Dish Anywhere with a Firestick to watch programs from my Hopper3 receivers on my basement TV. In the past I had a Joey2 that I watched when using my exercise bike in the basement. By eliminating the Joey2 and using Dish Anywhere I am saving $7 per month. It works very well.

Firestick only is kinda ...lame.But I get it.Better deal than Roku,Alexa on the remote etc.As I noted elsewhere my MIL has Comcast and their free (beta) app lets you watch any channel you subscribe to on a tv with a roku. There is no promise it will be free forever however.
Firesticks are cheap enough-maybe I"ll try one out.

DISH Anywhere works good thru the Firestick.

Hopefully better than Alexa works half the time.
"Alexa -turn on Lamp A"
"I'm sorry there is no lamp A."
Yelling louder because you've done this countless times "Alexa-TURN ON LAMP A!"
"ok"
I only use our Alexa to check the weather and she is a good timer to set like for cooking something.

Yes-it is good for a timer. We also use it for checking the time(when I'm just to lazy to roll over in bed and open my eyes),nagging reminders(my daily pill regimen is now much better) and grocery shopping lists right on the cell phone. It's nice being able to add an item right when you want hands free.Plus streaming music or whatever.

I had a sitting room turned into a big closet with barn doors, and the dang doors when open eclipse the light switches. So I replaced them with smart switches and control them with my Echo Flex without issue.
