dish decline

That's what I was thinking, too. I Think Excede and Hughes both are adding new Sats to their Internet service
They need to do something to improve their services, they are about to be smacked around by Star Link, not just in residential, but businesses ( Airlines for one example).

I believe there is AT LEAST ten years of Dish satellite delivery left. And Dish will have an alternate delivery method in place long before then. Beyond Sling.
Delivery is not the only problem, Broadcasters/Channel Providers are the other problem, they are the ones who are speeding up the decline of Traditional Providers like Dish.

For example, Disney has 3 Traditional Channels, yet they put their Best Programming on Disney+, the stuff on the regular Channels is also on Disney+ at the same time or a day after.

FX does this with Hulu, AMC puts their new shows on their paid service a week before they are on the regular AMC channel, Discovery ( Food Network, HGTV, Animal, a lot more) puts their shows on Discovery+ before or same day they are on the Traditional Channels, the Viacom group on Paramount+, etc, etc.

So people will come to think, why pay for a Traditional Service when I can get the same and more content on on their apps instead with a lot more new/original content for ( as of now) a less expensive price.

And not everyone will subscribe to all the paid services, think how many channels do you really watch, my wife, for example, could get by with just Discovery+ ( she is happy having Food Network on all day).

One benefit to a traditional service is "one stop shopping". You don't have to have one app to watch Mandalorian, a different app to watch The Walking Dead, a third app to watch Property Brothers, etc, etc.

Yep, traditional service is much more convenient, the question is how much is having that convenience worth?

I'm not gonna sub to 5, 6 or 8 streaming services to see something that's gonna show up a day or week later on a related linear TV channel. I refuse to do that. I can be patient and my wallet is not unlimited in its depth...
You sub to one when you need it..then drop it when you don't...not all 8 at the same time..all the time

Till the bitter end.

The bitter end seems to be getting closer. The content providers keep raising their prices while losing eyeballs and providing less original scripted shows. The cable replacement services keep raising their rates while losing subscribers as are the cable and sat services. At some point the consumer has to start speaking louder with their wallets IMO.

The current problem with live streaming is there are lots of them that are “almost” as good as cable/sat starting @$65/month but if you want all that you had with cable/sat the more likely price will be a lot more than that and still be missing some wanted channels.

Just keep one for a month then switch to another next month...its all on demand with streaming..very flexable

Agreed, It's already been announced that once the Marvel The Eternals leave the theater at the end of January, it will be put up on Disney + in February. Sort of made out decision then and there.

I can pay for an entire year of Disney+ with the dollars I would just spend on Tickets and food to take the family out to see the movie. Anyone priced the cost of food, popcorn and even drinks at a theater lately? And if we went out to somewhere before, they would still want popcorn and drinks. It would be a $120-130 movie!

Doesn't even take multiplication or division to do that math. Wait until February and watch in 4K HDR Dolby Atmos 9.2 on my Sony 77" OLED TV!!!!

I don't sub to any streaming services and I do not plan to. Their glitsy new shows are not worth the price of admission.

I have never watched anything off streaming pay channels except free previews and they go buy fast and are gone.

Dish gives me a few shows I enjoy watching and the rest of my time is mine.
