i have lost cbcnews 255 and ctvnews 256 to wiggly lines like you get when bad weather comes but this only happens to these two channels and not just bad weather. every so often it says call shaw and ask to have the receiver refreshed. anybody familiar with this process or other any other way to get these two newsnetworks working

A receiver refresh can be done by accessing your account online and finding the button for refreshing your receiver. I believe a total of four attempts to refresh can be done per day via the Web.

As far as the problem you are experiencing, it's difficult to diagnose from the information given. If you are in Canada you may want to call for a tech visit. If you're in a "southern province", Shaw is in the process of moving its signals to a newer satellite that only covers roughly the northern third of the US. As the older satellites reach end-of-life, there have been many reports from users about channels disappearing and reappearing for unknown reasons. Shaw Direct in the southern US is becoming a thing of the past.......

I tried to do a refresh and nothing happened. It’s like the signal does not reach in southern Arizona. What happened is I brought down two receivers and one of them seems to have lost a signal. I had them both working fine before I left Canada and after that 3 Day drive, one of them is not receiving a signal.

TMT are you getting F2 channels okay on the other rcvr? You know you won't get G1 channels right?

What does this entail?
Bad idea. If you do a Master Reset, your receiver's memory and channel maps are cleared out, and require a good download (done from a live signal) as well as a call to Shaw Direct to restore your subscription. IF you are using a different type of LNBF on this system in Arizona vs. the one at home, you could be opening a can of worms. Would suggest that if you have not done a Master Reset, stop! Any channels that you were receiving on a subscription from Anik G1/107 in Canada will simply not play in Arizona. Only those from F2/111. Go through your channels and write down which ones are still working. That's what you are going to receive in Arizona, and once Anik F2 is shut down anywhere from a few weeks to several months from now, there will be no more reception from your system in Arizona. Bring your receivers back to Canada once this happens, but Shaw Direct is near the end of the road for reception in locations that are unable to receive Anik G1.

Thank you Mike. I do have probably 50 channels on my one receiver the other one does not work at all. It was for my in-laws next door. Not the end of the world. Lol at least we will be able to watch hockey and curling in the spring off of the one receiver. We did kind of think that SHAW was coming to an end down here. Mostly everything that I need to watch can be really watched on the Internet anyway. Thanks for your help guys I appreciate it.

I am sorry that one of your rcvrs doesn't work. Does any body have any idea on that? Maybe it got bounced around in his car too much??
