I just saw the new Direct TV pricing. All I can say is Ouch! I am glad to be with Dish even with disputes. Depending on what region you are in, I guess the pricing varies with Direct to top it off. For Sports fans I guess Direct is the place to go if you have the money to pay for it. I know friends of mine who has Direct were forced to go to a smaller package last year with the increases. I am not a Sports fan, so I would rather have other programming like the Diginets and I am still Grandfathered in for the Supers. The Movie pack offers a lot for $10 extra too. I am quite happy with Dish.

Have had both Directv and DISH over the years. While the HR54 was a decent DVR when it was first released, it couldn’t compare with the Hopper. I’m a sports fan but not a sports junky so DISH has plenty of coverage for us and I like the fact we only have to renegotiate a contract every two years and then know we are locked into that price.

Yeah, I think I'm on my 2nd 2-yr fixed contract right now. But as the regular prices keep going up, how can we continue to negotiate the price we had before when doing so would cause Dish to give me back $50 or more per month? I'll take it if they give it to me, but my my. If I can't negotiate a new contract, my monthly cost is probably (my WAG) going to double. :crying

Prove it, with Dish’s 2 year new customer deal, there is no way they would come close.

Post what your current bill with DirecTV is.

wasnt recently, been a couple of years
cant do it now as both websites are garbage and wont allow me to build a package for some reason
and the dish site wont allow me to add the hopper3 to 2 rooms
but i have 2 rooms, a geine and an hr24 with ultimate package
current Bill total: $164.58

when i switched from dish, my bill went up $5/month

For the value subscriber, Dish is unmatched via companies that have equipment. Welcome Pack, Smart Pack, Flex provide the ability to prioritize channels. And with Flex, I don't need to get raked over the coals for the locals. OTA isn't perfect, but the locals aren't worth $12 a month, when I can get most of them for nothing.

Totally agree, plus you can really save on equipment fees by owning Wallies. I have no fees, free OTA with DVR, only paying for Flex, News Pack and HBO. Not much more than a streaming service and I don't have to worry about sucking up my bandwidth or deal with buffering.

DirecTV is better unless you want the Pac12 Network. A few more bucks aren't a big deal long-term and you can actually watch sports without your bill not going down when the channel gets dropped...since the sports channels don't get dropped on the superior provider.

I wouldn't call a company whose latest system the genie 2, doesn't even support 5g wireless or 4k without needing an additional client "superior".
