I need info on new hopper plus

One of mine is hooked up to a ATCL Series 6 withut issues. And PQ looks great to me.

Throughout the entire beta I never heard a single tester say their PQ was bad. In fact most commented how improved the picture was on the HD channels. (But did hear people upset about the HDR stuff.) :)
Well there are several just on this site who are contradicting that

For what its worth I have the Hopper + and 4 Joey 4s. The Hopper + is connected to an LG OLED. Two of the Joeys are connected to Sony HDR 4K sets, one to an LG 4K non-HDR, and the fourth to an old 1080P Plazma set. My picture looks great on all of them.
We have 3 4K televisions and PQ is outstanding. And yes, I have calibrated my main LG OLED 65 set to my preferences. No difference with the Plus, if anything it looks better. (2) TCLs in other rooms that look great. It's been a great upgrade for our family. Love the new interface. It's been super smooth on all the streaming services, which I can't say was the case with the Fire Cube, which had to have frequent reboots or cache clearing. Be careful, as the loudest voices may scare you off from a strong upgrade. If there are people like myself with positive experiences out there, there isn't much reason to come here and post that things are working well.

Clone1008 is constantly complaining about the HDR distorting his picture quality. Meanwhile at least 8 others have noticed that their picture quality is better on the Hopper+ than the Hopper3. My wild guess is that the HDR10 flag being set to on is not affecting the TV image on many of the HDR sets. Besides turning HDR on doesn’t the HDR10 broadcast signal have to include information on the color saturation. Without the additional information maybe many TV HDR sets are simply ignoring the false HDR flag. I would really love to have someone explain how TV’s use the HDR information.

Has anyone tried pairing an older remote. That would answer the question.
Older than the 50.0, such as a 40.0 remote? Here is what Scott posted in the other thread:
This is correct, while older remotes will work with them for the most part some things will not work. ...
My wife was a die hard DISH 40 remote user and refused to use the 54 remotes, until some feature of the 40 remote did not work anymore on the Android Platform, so she was forced to use the new remote to which she was not happy about, however now I think she is now happier with the54 remote now that she has gotten use to it.

I would second that the new Android interface is working well with all the apps I have used with one notable exception. I deliberately kept my Spectrum subscription for the month of October so that I could see the remainder of the Cardinals regular season. I have been trying to use the Bally Sports app using my Spectrum login for this and while it does work on the Hopper +/Joey 4 initially, after about 15 minutes it starts stuttering bad enough to make it unwatchable for me. When I switch over to the app on my Apple TV it operates perfectly. I need to run the Bally Sports app on one of my other Android streamers to see what it does there, but all other apps seem to work very well. Also, does not matter if viewing on the Hopper + or one of the Joey 4s.

That pretty much eliminates the possibility that my wife would accept it. I guess i will order a Joey 3 to replace one of my old Joey 2s.
That was my wifes feeling on it too... however she was kind of forced to use the 54 and she finally is getting the hang of it.

They really want you to use the voice features, but I got to be honest, its rare that I use the voice features.

This is not a Dish issue I don't think, but the voice feature would be more useful if it were integrated into more apps. I find myself switching over to my Apple TV for YouTube because the voice search does not work from within the YouTube app on the Hopper + or at least it does not work for me.

Can you access that directly through the Spectrum app, rather than trying to use the Bally Sports app? I can't guarantee any better results, since the Spectrum app can be glitchy on Roku (the only type of streaming device I have available to use it with). Maybe it will work better on Android, though.

That is ironic, because I remember testing the voice remotes when the Google Assistant integration was first being worked on. Voice search would always find YouTube results, even on Hopper Duo and Wally, neither of which have the YouTube app. That was one of the major complaints from testers on these devices, and one of the first things Dish needed to fix, since our receivers couldn't actually play the videos that the voice search would find.

Thanks! Did you get a chance to test it with infrared remotes? It doesn't matter to me if some features are missing. I'm just curious if it would work at all.
I have not tried to be honest, but there is a setting option to use IR. So I am guessing (but not 100% sure) that it would work.

I will check again tonight to verify, but what I am referring to is the ability to use the voice search from within the application. If I search from within the home screen it will include YouTube in the search results along with other results. I have not been able to get it to work within the app. It uses Google assistant to do a web search not specific to YouTube. I want to be able to search within YouTube and only have YouTube results like I can do on virtually every other platform.

The Joey 3 is already on ots way. That probably means they printed the label but Dish says it is the way.

Interestingly it took almost 45vminutes to convince them i do not need a professional installation.

Yes, I can. The Spectrum app is very unreliable on any streaming platform in my experience. I was using the Bally Sports App because I wanted to get used to using it. After the end of this month I will be cancelling Spectrum's video services and expect to loose access to Bally Sports then. My plan is to sign up for Bally Sports + app (same app, but a paid service launching in my area on Sept 26th I believe) to watch Blues Hockey this season and I am counting on them carrying the Cardinals on the paid app starting next baseball season. I am also hoping, maybe foolishly, that once Bally Sports makes the RSNs available ala cart in their app that they will be more willing to make a deal with Dish to allow the offering of the RSNs ala cart on Dish. It is my understanding that this was the big hang up on the negotiations. Dish wanted to be able to offer the RSNs ala cart and Sinclair (Bally) insisted on having them bundled into most of the core packages.

Also, unless recently added the Spectrum app is not available in the Google Play store so I would still need to use my Apple TV or another supported platform.

pattykay I have ten 40.0 remotes paired in my DISH setup. The one I have paired to the H3 all the 40.0 buttons still work good. For the H+, J4s, and WJ4s the volume, mute and TV on/off buttons work. Most of the other buttons don't work. Hit and miss on some buttons. The Joey 40.0 remotes work worse than the H+ 40.0. I am fixing to unpair all of them and pair 54.0 series remotes. If you have any other 40.0 remote questions ask me soon. I am keeping all my 40.0 remotes in case DISH decides to let them work better someday. I really want the 40.0 for my guest rooms.
