I was recommended this receiver 4K UHD ATSC-C Satellite TV Receiver Box SCART HDMI Media Player USB DVR Recorder | eBay unfortunately its not available as well. My receiver died and I am just looking for something to get my FTA system online. All I have is two fixed dishes, on dish has a dual LNB holder. I am watching a little TV and I need to have a receiver that will let me manually program the music stations. Can anyone provide any recommendations?

The company that once made that receiver has exited the satellite receiver manufacturing business. I'll just leave it at that. If you're seeing them offered online, it's probably new-old stock and they're asking for more than it might have ever been worth.

Your Amiko died? (Just going by what you have in your signature, as a guess)

Yes Amiko is dead troubleshooting efforts have not yielded anything. So, I am in search of a receiver. Any suggestions?

Not recommending, just commenting. I have a GT Media V9 Prime and I'm very satisfied with it, especially considering what I paid for it new when it was available. Even if it's obsolete, it still works fine for me.

And I'm a fan of Edision receivers but they take time to learn and effort to support. So they are hobby receivers not for those who only want to watch TV.

On the low end there's KOQIT receivers (they seem similar in ways to the GT boxes, and priced around the $35 mark) and up into the $100s+ Octagon, Amiko can be had. Even a single-tuner Enigma2 option there, for $200 then you can have the two-tuner version. (I'm an avid Enigma2 receiver fan myself)

For channel editing, like music stations as you were mentioning, personally for me there's no comparison to having the flexibility of OpenATV or TNAP and Enigma2 receiver support. It's great once you get the hang of things. Meanwhile I haven't had a regular FTA STB that supported decent channel editing in quite some time. If you happen to find one, I might like to snag one myself!

How is the V9 "obsolete"? Genuinely curious, not snarky.

I personally like the V9 alot, it was a way better interface than the Amiko 4k I had. You can still find the V9's, but dang the price went up in the past year. I had bought 1 to start with, liked it so much (and to get in front of tariffs), I ordered 2 more, so I have 3. Plenty of backup and in case my Dad wants FTA (or will let me install it ;)). The V9 works great for the "hidden" music channels.

Re: GT and the V9 -> looks like GT Media has left the satellite receiver business

I forget about the V9. (But once the support moves on from them, I tend to forget them) Gets lower symbol rates than some of the others in GT series. (Gets the WPR stations on 99w with manual PID entry with ease) They are going for more than they used to be because the stock isn't being produced anymore, and the resellers flipping them are likely aware of this fact.

I tried a V9 myself. The barrel (LNB IN) connector in the back was poorly attached to the main board, and a coax bend pulled the sucker off two days into ownership. Opened it up and build quality was not that great and properly re-soldering that F-connector back on was going to be tricky. It's sitting in the parts bin waiting for a rainy day second attempt.

Anyway... RidgeRunner what else are you looking for in your next receiver?

I thought from others comments that the V9 Prime was no longer available. You were wise to grab a few extra. A quick check online shows I could still get one delivered to my home from China for US$48. I'd pay that if still available.

For products like these, I don't care if there is any "support". If the unit works, then I rarely seek support. It's a gamble I suppose if it fails out of the box, but what choice do you have? I would consider a receiver from Rick's instead but getting something across the U.S. border nowadays is probably as tough as from China. I source from Canada if possible but an FTA satellite receiver may be tough to find here.

Try a new power brick, one at least 2 amps. Some of them came with faulty ones. I had to replace mine when the brick went bad.

Gotcha, obsolete meaning no longer supported or discontinued, not that it's features were "obsolete".
