If you tried getting here in the past hour or so, the site was messed up.

The default SatelliteGuys style got corrupted somehow. And since I was set too use the default SatelliteGuys style I couldnt get into the admin panel to fix it.

But I figured it out.

And all is good now... and actually things seems a bit snappier again too. So maybe it was a good thing.

Happy Saturday!

If you are a system admin running Unix you probably know there have been a BUNCH of security fixes this week. A lot of zero day things... some were as serious as someone could get in as root and erase your entire server (and it has happened to a bunch of servers) so I have been patching things as quickly as the notifications and updates have come out.

I applied a new one that came out today and rebooted the machine and when the machine rebooted everything on the machine was working but SatelliteGuys. Seems the SatelliteGuys style got corrupted when I rebooted the server.

Its been a CRAZY week but I have been on top of things. Again sorry for the down time. :)

Most of my services run on hosted Debian VPSes, so the updates happened entirely in the background for me.

For my hardware Linux boxes (all Debian—including my Raspberry Pi 3+), the Dirty Frag patch arrived yesterday. The same appears to be true of Ubuntu.

I don't think the Dirty Frag impacts me as I use OpenVPN and Wireguard for VPN applications (Dirty Frag hits IPSec).

Copy Fail was patched last week, but I don't have Linux users that can be elevated, so I don't imagine my attack surface was all that broad.

Copy Fail was the BIG one, and there was an issue with Cpanel that made it worse. Many people woke up and found their servers gone because of that one. That is scarry!

Updates can happen automatically here but you have to wait for it to be done at its normal times... I want them patched ASAP.

We may be a forum, but as far as security goes,I try to protect your data like we are a bank. :)
