SatelliteGuys was offline this morning from around 3:30 am until about 5 am.

When I woke up we were offline. The server was throwing database errors and normal systems were not functioning.

I restarted the machine which normally fixes things however this did not. So I logged in to the machine via VNC to find the issue. It took a couple of minutes but I found it... we were out of drive space. Since it was the first of the month, I figured the monthly backup had issues. So I deleted that and a bunch of older backups and opened up some space. But still services would still start and our drive space was still 94% used. I then did a drive search for files on the server that were bigger than 1 gig and found a 460 gig error_log file in our forum software directory. I took a look at it and it was one error that started February 16th of last year and repeated and repeated on every page load here from our CleanTalk security plugin. Yeah every time a page was loaded here that plugin wrote to the error_log file. I disabled the plugin and the errors stopped. I cleared that log file and now we are only using 43% of our drive space.

I restarted the server again and all services came fully back online again. (phew!)

I alerted the CleanTalk people of the issue and it appears their plugin does not create a needed table to fully function properly, without that table the forum software throws an error into that error_log file for every page load.

So now I got a ticket in with them and they are checking why that table was not created. This may be happening on other Xenforo forum sites but no one noticed it yet because this error_log is not the normal one that is written elsewhere.

Upon the advice of CleanTalk I have disabled their plugin which has stopped the errors in the log. And CleanTalk is working on the issue.

Yesterday I upgraded the system from PHP 8.3 to PHP 8.4 and thought maybe the swap had something to do with it. But it did not, thankfully. :)

So for you early birds, sorry for the down time. :)

Seems to be working fine if you are having issues please post more details about your issue so I can investigate further.
Since I couldn't log in using Tapatalk, I uninstalled the app, then reinstalled. Now I get attached screen. Something about a network error. I got same error before uninstalling.

Ok went through the system and tested it on 4 different devices and all of them are working fine. (1 iphone, 1 ipad, and two Android tablets)

I also ran the diagnostics software and all is running well there as well. (As shown below)

A check over at the Tapatalk site shows that the product is pretty much dead. There haven't been any replies from Tapatalk staff to issues in quite awhile. If I try logging into the Site Owners area, it tells me I must log in via Facebook. If I try logging in via Facebook I get the following error message. "

App not active

This app is not accessible right now and the app developer is aware of the issue. You will be able to log in when the app is reactivated.
"

With that said we are running the latest forum plugin which was updated last over a year ago.

About the only thing I can think of is when using it parts of your connection come to us from a Tapatalk IP address instead of the real address your using I am wondering if that TapaTalk address somehow triggered the firewall and is blocked. With thousands of hack attempts here daily it is impossible for me to find if they are blocked, and checking their support forum I do not see any IP addresses for their services so I could whitelist them.

Also be aware they posted last year they are changing things and the free version will no longer work and that they want you to pay 99 cents a month to use it. Tapatalk Support Group-Our Mobile App is Transitioning to a Paid Model.

I personally consider Tapatalk to be pretty much dead now.

I have been working with another company on another Tapatalk like software called Forum CoPilot, which we have been running for a few months now. But from where I sit this program has a LONG way to go. (Don't buy it yet. Once its up to snuff we will have our own free custom version.)

I wish I had a better answer of why its not working for you. Or why its working for me. I have only kept it here since it has stayed running. But Tapatalk was baught out or something and the new folks behind it did nothing with it, and seem to be letting it die on the vine.

Cool, Xenforo recently announced they will be making some changes to the app in the next update..

The app is what I use now as well, stopped using the Tapatalk app awhile ago.

SOOOOO- I just tried to log in to Tapatalk, where I haven't been in many years. Didn't ask me to log in. I got this:

Then:

No account- but some account info.

So I deleted the app.

One down, 100 + to go.

If you can get rid of the cookie or whatever that wants to open the Site in Tapatalk, that would be nice.
Wait I was able to login to the publisher site on my phone.

And when trying to turn the stupid banner off here is what pops up when you try turning it off.

So, the Tapatalk is branded into the XenForo software, and they extort the owner (you) $20/mo. to remove the Tapatalk App activation? Maybe that's why most of the Car forums I frequent use Fora.

No Tapatalk is a Add On for Xenforo (the forum software itself)

Fora is an addon that that Fora (who owns a big number of forums) made themself for use as a replacement for Tapatalk. They also run Xenforo (the forum software) and have their own custom add ons such as the Fora add on. They do not make their add ons available to other forums.

So you could save $20/mo. to eliminate this outdated plug-in? Sorry if I'm being dense here, but I really don't see the value of the Talkatap App. I'm perfectly fine using a browser to access my Forum sites.
