DLP, LCD, or Plasma??

I've been considering purchasing a new HD set and I'm very confused on what kind of set to purchase. I've been looking around in the retail show rooms and they all seem to have very good pictures. I'm not sure what type of set to purchase between DLP, LCD, LCD RP, and Plasma. Does anyone have any feed back on the pros and cons of each type of set?

I would like to have a set between 55" to 57". Thanks for any feed back.

I'm not at home yet, but I would guess I have a 25'x 16' room with only one window, so it stays fairly dark. I currently have a 57" RPT in this same room and I think as far as size goes, I would like to stay at that size.
I would like to stay under $3000, but I would pay a little more for a much superior product.

You also should consider saving money ($700 - $1500) and still getting a superior quality product and the same top quality 57" image (or larger if you choose for the SAME money spent) by not discounting a top quality FPTV.

These are just a few in no special order. Even factoring in a screen (if you need one) and maintenance you can stay under the overall cost of a fixed sized screen of any "flat panel". These also allow for change of screen sizes as your room changes and are smaller/takes less foot print space.

Actually, that is getting into more money than I would like to spend. But thanks for the info.

I know there are positives and negatives when dealing with all types of sets(LCD, DLP, LCD RP,Plasma) . But could someone lists some specifics on each type of set. I think if I know the pros and cons of each then I could narrow down the choice that best fits my needs. Thanks.

MORE money? The Top ranked, award winning PLV is LESS money than your budget. $1500 for the FPTV, 16:9 screen and extra lamp shipped. How is that more money than your $3000; you have me confused; that is saving money for a product equal and better than what you are going to get with a fixed size panel.

I'm sorry, I only looked at the first one listed on the link you provided and it showed a MSRP of $12,995. I understand they can be purchased for much less, but I figured once I purchasd a screen and installation it would bring the price up considerably. And from what little bit I have read about the projectors, my room needs to be completely dark, which would create a lot of work. Although I only have one window, I have two entry ways into other rooms that do not have doors.

That one I may have copied the wrong line, I used your $3000 budget as my price query, but if you are spending this kind of serious money on a TV, I am shocked you would look at just one only. That doesn't lean toward good research, did you even try the research tool on your own? Maybe you already have your mind made up and that's OK.

Myths; perpetuated by people for any number of reasons:
1. Buyers remorse for paying way too much for a tiny screen "flat panel". Jealousy.
2. Seller that have a MUCH bigger profit on a flat panel as opposed to FPTV's
3. Lack of education; not knowing what to look for, and/or seeing a CHEAP, BADLY setup display or friend unit.

Your right. Light will wreck a FP picture. Now go buy yourself a Sony sxrd or samsung DLP.
