My Sister lives in Lima (Allen county.
Now there is a justifiable reason to "move". Actually don't even need the quotation marks.

Jimbos is in the Toledo DMA 500 ft from Monroe County, MI in the Detroit DMA.

LOL. Well, the main reason is there isn't enough bandwidth. Once the 2 new KA sats go up next year then all these RSN HD stations should go full time and available nationwide just like the sports pack. Right now the way it is may be confusing but it's a way for them to provide many people with HD games now instead of making everyone wait another year.

Likely its the league offices, not the teams directly; unless the league tells you otherwise. What was your OH zip again? I am still a firm believer that the leagues maintain slightly tighter areas for HD versus SD; I am waiting for them to prove me wrong.

Charper, you are correct, I am in the Toledo area, in the Blue area, therefore I am stuck with FSN Ohio (out of Columbus, I think), but pay for teh FSN - D so I can watch the Red Wings.

Looks like there was some confusion about 95, 96 and so forth. Here's the deal.

Channel 95 HD has been around for a couple years now and is the "Special Events" channel. DirecTV picks and chooses games from various sports packages and stations to put there. Think of it as a "Best of" channel. So a couple nights ago it had the Versus NHL game on. Tonight it's scheduled to have the Red Wings game off FSN Detroit and the Pistons game off FSN West (most likely since it's at the Lakers).

Now what this means tonight is those with FSN Detroit as their local RSN will get the game on 95, blacked out for everyone else except those with Center Ice, assuming the Center Ice feed uses FSN Detroit.
The Pistons game, if it uses the FSN West feed will be blacked out to everyone except those with FSN West as their local FSN. Those with NBA Leauge Pass will also get it, again assuming it's using the FSN West feed.

95 is MPEG2 and available to all customers.

Channel 96 or 97 are different. DirecTV has been making FSN and other sports channels direct HD feeds available in MPEG4 on the new sats and you need a 5 LNB dish and an MPEG4 receiver like the H20 or HR20 to get the games.
There are a couple of these that are full time but for now the vast majority are only lit up when a game is actually in HD. BUT it is sent down via spotbeam with the HD locals in most markets.
So the FSN Detroit HD feed will be there tonight on 96 but only in the Detroit market. The rest of Michigan will not get it.

Hope that clears some things up.

I understand what your saying, but I find it not 100 % true, most is, But, Yes the Wings are on in HD tonight on channel 95 (great seeing I just now got home from work) There have been numerous games involving the Red Wings on 95 this year and they have all been blacked out, till now.
Any reason why ???

IF I know that next year when the new sats are up and operational, I will get the Wings in HD, I can live with that.

However I would like to see this years games and next years Tigers would be nice too.
I wonder if there is any information confirming this type of thought.

You will only get the HD game on 95 *if* it's the FSN-Detroit feed which tonight it is. A few weeks ago for example the feed of the Kings/Red Wings game on 95 was from FSN-West. Thus it was blacked out to us because FSN-West isn't our "home" market RSN.

So basically, IF it's a home game we will get it and if it's a road game it will be blacked out.

I thought I found the opposite to be true last year, but that was last year and my memory is not that good.

I am feelin' for ya Jimbo. You are 500 ft. away...how stupid is it that you can't get the FSN Detroit HD feed. As you saw last night on Ch. 95 (it looked identical on Ch. 96 from my persepective...no noticible difference between MPEG-2 and 4), hockey in HD rocks.
