Customer Retention Phone Number/ And PIN

Does anyone have the new phone number. I just receiced a promotion from E* and want to see if D* will offer me a deal on a HR20.

Thanks, Michael

It appears, from the posts, that we have the phone number, but we need the PIN for customer retention.
Does anyone have the PIN?

I haven't called them in a while but I used this number 1-800-824-9081
Is that the number that has been shut down ?

All the "direct" phone numbers to the different departments have been changed.

Most of them now are PIN based (either the automated system, or the CSR has it on their screen), to transfer the call to the other tier.

try 800-266-4388. It's CustSvc, but it's straight-thru live-operator for English Speakers. They can transfer your call in seconds.

The retention number as you all know is no longer active, the pin number if you were given one is only valid for 5 days. This is to cut down on all the calls coming in to get deals.

I called the new customer offer line and went straight thru to a rep.

I just got off the phone with the retention people. The number I had put me to the regular customer service line. I asked for the retention line and they said they would have to transfer me. Once there I got a great deal. I have been a D* customer for almost 10 years now. I asked "What can you do for me to get the HR20-700 for free" She said she could get to me for $199. She then said she would give me a $10 credit for the next 12 months on my bill, 6 months free HD service, and Free Showtime for 6 months. That alone will pay for the $199. Great deal right? well as she was typing away I asked about NFL Superfan. (I do have the standard NFL package) She then said she would also upgrade my package to the superfan, which now gives me all the games in HD. I thought it was a very successful call. Bottom line is tell them you are thinking of switching to Cable or another company and the keep hammering that. They will transfer you to the retention department and then you just have to do some negotiating.

They are screening calls to retention and who can blame them? You had people calling them 5 or more times a week. These forums and many like them, have posted the retention number so many times that it got totally out of control. Some people were posting in here that they would call three times or more times a day to try and get a deal. You can blame them for no direct line any longer. Or more appropriatly they can blame themselves. You will never see a direct line again. Your calls will be screened.

We've got DirecTV Plus (the middle package), four receivers, DVR, and the NFL Ticket. We recently bought a 50" HD Plasma. Right now I'm at $199 for HR20 DVR, $10 off for six months and 8 months HD free. They refuse to tack on SuperFan for free or offer a movie package for a few months unless I buy SuperFan for the rest of the year and then I'll get Showtime for three months (won't do HBO).

That said, I've also got a pretty decent deal from our local cable company. Comparable channel lineup to DirecTV, more HD channels at this point (I know this could change), no contract, no equipment to buy, no fees for additional TV locations, and an upgrade on our Road Runner internet (which we already have through them) for $106. (I believe the Road Runner alone is around $50)

I've told DirecTV this. Right now I'd say we'll finish out the NFL season and switch to cable. Too bad. I've been very happy with DirecTV but in the long run, this'll be cheaper for us and, if something changes, I'm not locked in for two years.

And your point is?

1-800-824-9081 didn't work on 6-2-07

800-266-4388 worked on 6-2-07

But it was a "SCREENED" process.
I think I'm through with DTV after 2 botched installations (their contractor bringing the wrong items).

I'm sittin on-hold right now with retention....I'll see what they offer then make a decision.

sigh....!

k....
Just got off the phone and they gave me everything I wanted FREE....
What earlier today they charged me $235 for is now free of any cost plus a couple new added perks!

-HR20
-5LNB
-6 months HD programming (free)
-added a room that currently does not have any recv'r
-HR10 (upgrade an old Hughes std recv'r to the new box)

bshef,
I have a question for you.
after reading your original post (above).

you said after 2 botched installs, your thru with D*.....
But D* had NOTHING to do with the INSTALLS.
What you SHOULD have done, is call back to D* and let them figure out who the install company was (they know) and let D* know what happen, so they can look into it, this is the only way D* has to weed out those that are not working up to thier standards.
