Soriano to the Cubs !

wow great. the cubs will have another good bat to start off the 2007 season, and no WS championship to end the season(that felt good. have not razed the cubs for a long time)

DID lead the league in assists from the outfield...and no different in the outfield than a rookie outfielder...he will get better. But you cannot argue with his bat.
salsadancer,
Timm's comment was directed at Me, I bashed Soriano pretty badly because they call him an all-star, but an all-star in my book plays defense as well as hit.

I really get annoyed when a guy plays great D and never gets an all-star vote because he doesn't hit 40 HR's a year.

Alan Trammel was an all star, outstanding D and .280 average approx. but he got over shadowed by Ripken... Strange how you can play 2 or 3 left fielders in the all star game, but only one Shortstop.
Tram should be in the HOF along with Jack Morris and maybe a few others fromthe '84 team, but it seems they were overshadowed and thier accomplishment will never be honored in the hall.

Jack should have been in a LONG long time ago.

Jimbo

Jimbo...You cannot blame Soriano for being a bad outfielder if he has never played it. I DO agree with the above statement in regards to Allan Trammell.

There's lot of players that are not worth their inflated salaries but yet owners find the money to pay it even though in the past they all have cried "wolf"....

He wasa 40 40 man last year. The nats will miss him. I will expect a lot of criticism about why they did not trade him by the deadline last year if they weren't keeping him.

I am assuming he will be in the outfield since they have Walker at second already.

You mean Ortiz can't be an all-star? (Look out, here come the Red Sox fans!)

Personally, I think it's hilarious. Whatever happened to cultivating payers in the farm system? Sure, some teams have good farm teams, but still .... Sports in general is way out of hand. Nobody and I mean NOBODY needs over 100 million dollars. I would be ecstatic if crowds would start boycotting sports over these rediculous salaries, rising ticket costs, concession costs, etc. The money is obscene.

My father-in-law has stated that sports and society in general has lost ALL respect for money. I mean I will ALWAYS support players over owners ANY DAY of the week....because it is the owners who are either too stupid to offer or too stupid to agree! If I was offered 1 million for what I do, I would NOT say no...and neither would anyone else.
