Last night we went shopping at our local target. When we were in the Electronics isle people were asking the clerk about WII's and the clerk replied now but we have plenty of PS3's in stock.

My wife heard this and asked which model they had, the reply was they had 3 of each, and they have had them for a few days now.

My wife called my 12 year old son over and asked him if he wanted a PS3, he reply was a surprising "No mom, the PS3 sucks." The clerk was not surprised with his answer and said that she is hearing that a lot. She also mentioned that quite a few units they sold have been returned as the customers are not happy with them.

My wife was actually going to buy one for him and he didn't want it!

Is this like this all over?

Its seems Scott that the PS3 is more popular with men ages 21 and up. Mostly because of it Blu-Ray capabilities and a few selective games (aka Resistance and Madden07). Im not shocked that they are not selling as many now. Also, on the down side another problem with some retailers like Target are they have the system in stock but they are not on the floor to display! People are not going to buy them when they can't see them. Seriously, not everyone is going to ask if they have any available, I didn't! I got mine because I was in the electronics area and I saw the last one in the display case!

I have never seen any PS3's in a case or on display. Everybody that I know that has purchased one had to ask if they had any in stock. I know that they are expensive but you can't sell what people don't know you have.

Really! Tell them to send them to Georgia, they will sell quickly here! I bet within 2 days!:up

your kdding? I was at frys and saw 100 ps3 and was told they have more in the back. This was Tuesday and my wife was with me and ask why are there so many and the sales person just reply t, here not selling on ebay for a lot anymore.

Laff, I was just gonna post somthing similar to this thread. I was at target earlier today and they had 10 PS3's in the case.
I asked the guy when they got them, he said "4 days ago. Haven't sold a single one. Everyone is buying the Wii or asking about it. 360 is still selling well too"

I think it's because all the games out are either sports games or Mature ones(resistance, CoD3) and it won't change in the next weeks. The PS3 is a more 15+ kinda console with its current games library, I hope it changes soon and they make some good games for the kids.

Btw they should send them to bigger cities like NY, LA, Chicago,..etc cause they won't sell them in those small areas with that price tag.

I actually took one back where I bought it because they cost too much and nobody is even willing to pay the retail price for one. You can buy a good computer for the same price.

The good news is that it's available for those who really want it(like me :p) but I won't buy one until later in 2007 hopefully.

These reports echo reports on the game boards. A good portion of the initial sales went to speculators selling on Ebay. Ebay prices collapsed so they took their PS3 back.

Some people had problems with the 720p scaler issue and took theirs back.

I also think the high price point and meh launch games are currently scaring everyone but the hardcore gamers away.

I fell in this category. I tried to sell mine on e-bay, but I was going to keep it if it didn't sell. Then I found out about the 720p incompatability, the lackluster buzz that it is getting, and the possibility of the death of Blu-ray. I didn't want to invest $700 in a game console or HD disc format that will ultimately fail.

Right now, I can't say that it will fail, but Sony has really got a lot of work cut out to surpass the 360's 7mill customer base and the Wii's exciting new game play.

I think its a good sign that it took around a half an hour for the Ps3 to sell out on amazon, so the demand is still there, also I think its a good sign that the Ps3 is being stocked in stores as much as it has been, if I remember correctly the 360 only sold 600,000 before the new years in american, where the ps3 according to last esitmates is over 700,00 for america.

This really belongs in the other thread. You misread the deal from Amazon but so did I. The went on sale between 7am and 11am PST (I thought it was EST). They could have been for sale as early as 10am EST but I don't know when Amazon released them. Regardless your analysis is again based on optimism and little else.
