Anyone having trouble with Dish OTA HD tuners?

It is definitely an issue with 4.01 & 4.03. Before those updates all locals were rock solid never a pixilation in about a year on the 622. Since 4.01 now all locals occationally lose signal for 5 seconds or so then pop back on. This never happened before. Signal strength has gone up a bit but drops are now frequent. They better fix this fast. It is driving me nuts.

The OTA tuner in my 622 died yesterday. :( It can't pick up anything on a scan either. The tuner in my TV works so I know it's not my antenna.

Ever since 4.01 the DVR functions are also screwed up. Fast forward and rewind are extremely slow. Lots of break ups in LIVE mode. I guess I try another one.

I have the same problems in Louisville KY. There have been threads on this before the new software downloads but it seems worse now. I've tried three different antennas and a 20db antulator but I still have problems. It would seem the problem is related to the firmware. Hope Dish is listening.

The tuners in the Dish receivers will not tune a channel that does not have correct PSIP data even if you have a 100% signal level. The problem is partially the fault of the individual stations for not transmitting consistent PSIP data, but the built-in HD tuners my TVs will tune the same channels without any problems. On one local channel that should be displayed as 27.1, the TV will tune it and display 35.1 (the actual transmit channel is 35), but the Dish receivers will not tune it at all because the signal doesn't have the PSIP data identifying the channel as 27.1, that was present when the channel was scanned in.

Beckhamfam - have you tried using a remote antenna for the OTA antenna? You are so close to the towers you probably don't need much antenna. I'm on the other side of the river and have no problems ...

I am now having problems with my 211 OTA tuner. I am having problems with on channel in particular, 3 KCRA (NBC). It will drop off completely. Then after awhile all the other OTA channels will go black showing 0% signal strength. What is odd is I do not get the big yellow error screen, it is just a blank screen. I then have to reboot the box and then it is ok for a bit. I just had this box for about 2 months, it was to replace another one with a bad tuner.

If anyone had any sense, they'd start using these tuners...from MICROTUNE.

Supposedly blows everything out of the water when it comes to receiving weak terrestrial OTA signals, does also does QAM, and extremely affordable when purchased in bulk, as would be the case for any STB manufacturers, or TV makers...anythying that needs an ATSC tuner!

Also, from what I gathered, LG is working on their 6th gen tuners!

Points For E*

Sunday night I emailed CEO about my two problem OTA stations in Indy. Just got off the phone with an E* engineer who called ME. Very apologetic and said they are working on the software problem. I never expected a phone call!!

I just got off the phone with a Dish technician. He called me to ask about the OTA problems that I was having (the constant yellow screen). He said that there have been many complaints about it and they are working hard to get it fixed ASAP. First he asked for a detailed description of what I was experiencing. I could hear him typing it as I was telling him (shows me that they are serious about collecting their info, I hope). Then he asked me to hit menu twice and go to the information screen and read him the letters following the L403 of my software version. He was hoping that this could be the key to pinpointing the problem. If anyone one has any other info or anything to add, I'd like to hear it. Thanks.

Is anyone having trouble with the built in OTA HD tuners in a 622 or 211 receiver? Many people in the Milwaukee, WI area and Madison, WI area seem to be having problems. In Milwaukee it is ABC 12-1 and in the Madision area it is 3-1. It seems to have started about 2 mo. ago after a software upgrade from Dish. Many channels suddenly jumped from a 85 or 90 signal strength to 100%. after that the local ABC channel (showing 100% signal) pixelates, drops sound or just goes from 100% to 0% for about a second and then cames back at 100%. this happens anywhere from every 30 sec to 1 min. It makes it very hard to watch TV that way. The people in Madision, WI are having the same problem with 3-1 (don't know what network that is there).
yah 3.1 here is for crap. Got new boxes 211's and still crap.

I've noticed the same thing here just outside of Madison. WISC and it is begining to piss me off (particularly when trying to watch Jericho, NCIS and Lost)!

Add Kansas City to the list. KMBC 9.1 (OTA channel 7) comes in at 100% and drops out a lot. I must have had 20 "lost signal" screens last night on my "Lost" recording (ironic, huh?). The other channels seem OK, but there may be more that I'm not seeing. This is since L4.03. I don't recall having this issue with L4.01.
