I had my box activated but I don't see any LOCALS showing up. This was an added receiver to my account.

Any reason(s) this may have happened?

Maybe I did something incorrectly in the set up process?

Thanks

Where are you located? Is that Vancouver WA? If so, they are available. What are your signal strength readings for the 103 sat?

You can try hooking up an indoor antenna and go thru the antenna set up process and see if you can get them that way also.

Hmm sorry I just got home, how do I check the satellites, strength etc? Perhaps I can run the satellite setup once again? I noticed there was a "title" for that on the help screen.

I see all kinds of numbers but have no idea what I am looking for there?

Thanks

Not sure why much is dfferent...I just switched receivers HR20 for the H20 and getting all my channels except Locals.

rerun the satellite setup. Menu > Help and Settings > Setup > Satellite > Repeat Satellite Setup. That should fix the problem

Thanks I will try that.

It wouldn't have anything to with the BBC's? I am not sure exactly what they do yet but read another thread regarding BBCs.

Thanks

be sure the BBC's are connected in line, they dont really do anything yet, but should be connected anyway.

I am an installer for Ironwood (i know, i know), and the number one thing that upsets me about the HR20s is having to rerun the satellite setup after activation in order to get the locals to come in, and sometimes having to reset the receiver to get the DVR service to run.

Hmm so this isn't uncommon? But I did the satellite setup again and at the end I get the following error message:

The recorder detected that I selected the 5LNB (which I do have) but the recorder detected 3 satellites.

Strange how I got Locals no problem with the H20, made a switch to the HR20 and lost them. Is there some problem with the HR20 picking up locals?

As well the BBC's and RG6, it doesn't matter as long as their is two cables going into the receiver no matter what tuner there connected to?

correct about the BBCs and RG6. doesnt matter where connected, as long as its a satellite in.

when you get the recorder detected 3... message, just hit Continue, Fix Later. it should redownload the guide.

EDIT: as a last ditch effort, if that does not work, reset it, using either the menu, or the red button. if still no-go, call and have authorizations resent.

if you have to call for more authorizations, you will know they came down because the picture pixelates for just half a second, and then goes back to normal..

super high tech stuff if you ask me.

Guess I will have to call Direct in the morning and maybe get them to re authorize the receiver. I usually like to try and figure these things out myself and by asking a few questions here so that I can learn why etc and the solution. :) Everyone has been extremely helpful and patient with me-thanks! :hatsoff:

Seems strange to me though.

One last tech question that may or may not effect my situation:

The BBCs are interchangeable correct? I am using one from my H20 and one from the HR20.

Ok just checking to make sure and troubleshoot on my HR20-100 not getting locals. Would or could the BBCs effect me receiving my locals (Seattle)?

Are you talking about SD channels, HD or both? If HD, you need to make sure you have no diplexors on the lines. If BBC are connected, no diplexors, then it is an authorization to the card that is the issue. You can't fix that without a call.

The call centers are open 24 hours a day. Call them. You'll be directed through a series of automated steps. One of the steps asks if you are missing channels. It will automatically send the authorization signals back down. If that doesn't work, call them back and troubleshoot with them on the phone.

Maybe thats it. I did another satellite setup etc, I have the BBCs connected, I only have one receiver hooked up HR20.

Hmm it gives me three options for reset. Which one should I select? I just don't wanna screw anything up by choosing the wrong one. :)

the top one.. reset (or is it restart) recorder..
you dont want to reset to defaults, and not reset everything.. so only option left..
