There are threads about new cars or current cars everyone owns. So I thought it would be fun to hear what everyones first car was.

My first car was a 1974 Dodge Dart Sport, had a slant six in it. Paid $150 for it. Did a lot of work to it.:D

1980 Pontiac Firebird.....called the alligator mobile because the shocks were crap in the back (I bought it in 93) . Went to go across the railroad tracks and played "Dukes of Hazzard" with it. Where I live you had to go a block from the main road to the rr tracks and one of the streets had a incline right before the tracks so if you were going fast enough you could get off the ground. Well I did and when the back end hit pieces came flying off the back end :)

Got new shocks the next day and the alligator mobile was no more

Had a stereo that cost more than the car was worth :D

1985 VW Jetta! We called it "The White Ghost" and despite having a whole bunch of miles on it, it worked just fine. Had my share of little annoying issues with it, but it never left me abandoned anywhere.

I got rid of it in early 2001 after the birth of my first child, since it wasn't really in a good state for putting a babyseat into it.

My first car was a 1991 Geo Storm 5-speed. It was yellow, which earned it the nickname of the "Banana Boat".

my first car was shared by my twin sister it was a 1961 olds f85 station wagon. it had an aluminum engine in it and i overhauled it on my own when i was a senior in high school. the first car i bought with my own money was a 1964 chevy impala.

1983 red Honda Civic. Beat the crap out of it until the clutch dropped to the floor on the way home from high school...me and a buddy spent 10mi with him on the e-brake and me keeping my foot on the gas and power-shifting all the way home. Yeah, that transmission was obliterated when we got there....good times :)

1978 burnt orange Chevrolet Chevette. It was purchased for my sister in 86' then given to me the next year. She could never drive it because it was a stick.

Too funny! My 1st car was very similar; 1967 Plymouth Valiant. Those slant six's were pretty much bullet-proof. Three speed manual on the column (3 on the tree). Other than occasional valve cover leak and the fact it was very anemic/gutless, I loved the hell out of the car. I ended up breaking even by selling the car for $250. Last I heard, the engine finally died at 400,000 miles.

1968 Blue VW Beetle!
I loved it until one of my friends puked in the back seat one night, and I didn't find out, or use it, until about a week later!

My mother gave me her '69 Chevelle Super Sport... I was 13 at the time and traded it for a brand new moped... boy do I regret that decision every time I think about it :/

1964 VW Beetle – I traded it 3 years later for a new car. I must have been mistaken about the odometer reading, though. I could have sworn it read 5x,xxx when I exchanged it for the new car, but it read 3x,xxx when in the dealer’s used car section. I might have kept it if I realized it had so few miles…

1965 Olds Cutlass F85 2 Dr. 330 ci V8 and 4sp, maroon with black interior - paid $350 for it in 1973.

Same here, a 91 Storm, except mine was blue. The clutch was crap and it leaked antifreeze as long as I had it. Took it to numerous mechanics, and nobody ever could found anything wrong with either.

A 1977 Chevy Luv pick up. Rusted out, fadded blue paint, torn up cloth seats, no AC. A glass pack muffler that dumped straight to the ground just below the cab. An AM radio with one speaker. That thing was a piece-O-crap. Wish I still had it. It looked like hell but never left me walking.

Red 1966 VW Beetle I bought in 1971. I wanted to put a glasspack header on it, but couldn't afford it, so I took off the stock exhaust tips that had a muffler core and put on straight chrome tips. I didn't realize how loud the thing was until I traded it in on my first brand new car, a '72 Pinto, and when they drove it away I heard it from outside the car. My girlfriend-now wife, didn't have as much warning I was coming after that. She couldn't hear me from 2 blocks away anymore. :D
