I don't have Dish Network any longer but still have the HD dish set up. What do I need to look for to see if I can use it with my HD Directv receiver? Just reposition it for DTV satellites, or change out the LNB?...or more?

I have the latest software L642 so shouldn't be a prob there. This just started on Saturday. It just randomly starts recording on a channel and will record for like 5 hours. Then when you change the channel and tell it to stop recording, it will start recording some other random channel/show...

what is the difference from 1000.2 dish and the 1000.4? the prob with wing dish is that it would be put on the other side of the yard about 100' ft away from current dish, so it's a long distance to run that cable from and i really am not trenching that.

will a dish signal amplifier help in receiving the signal from that EA spotbeam? I occasionally can p/u the signal and get local HD channels from that EA spotbeam.

I can't get LOS to western arc where Nashville locals run from and, even with a wing dish, I'm not sure if i could get LOS to the Western Arc for locals. Eastern Arc spotbeam for Nashville locals doesn't reach far enough to me, but Knoxville EA spotbeam does. Any way to convince Dish to...

well that stinks...i really don't want to set up another dish, especially since i'd have to install it all the way on the other side of the yard. No Way im doing all of that. and, then again, I still may not have LOS at any part of the yard. Yeah I am just a bit too far east for that spotbeam...

i am on eastern arc, but Nashville locals run off of western arc satellite. I've searched for what the wing dish is...but can someone help me "get it"? actually setting up a different dish next to the current one pointed at western arc? how would that "tie in" with the coax from current...

I had to use the eastern arc to get HD due to LOS...installer said transponder on eastern arc HD satellite is broken for Nashville HD locals. Looks like that is true since I can't get locals...and don't have the option of SD on locals. How can i get locals, whether HD or not? would small...

will the hex head self tapping screws, used specifically for like sheet metal, go through both poles okay, or would drilling be required. If I have to drill, I'd rather just drill through it all and use a bolt and nut fastener.

i believe it's 1 5/8" is my guess...whatever the standard size is that D* uses for the standard dish. The current dish is great...very sturdy and level/plumb.

I am a current D* customer without HD. I purchased the Slimline off of an individual locally, and I have the SL3 LNB that I need...I am off of Nashville market so I don't need 110 or 119. The pole is nice and is about the same length as my current pole in the ground that the non-HD service...

Can I use my current R-16 receiver to "find" the satellites in the sky?...so that when D* guy comes out he just has to hook up the HD receiver and we're good to go. I have the satellite finder to align everything up...and I know my current receiver is compatible with the Slimline and the SL3...

...so you're saying i can keep the 5LNB and just setup the receiver to SL3, and it will trick it w/o having to set to record 2 shows early in the morning so it pulls guide info from 101? that would be great!
