    Slimline5 - HR-24 and no HD

Since most new installations are SWM, BBCs are not included with HR24s. If you call Directv and they will ship a pair for free.

    Boosting RF remote signal

Directv uses the receiver ID # to restrict RF control to a single receiver.

    Media Share Question

You need to be running a media server on your computer and possibly will also need to configure the computer to allow content to be shared to your DVR.

Should I demand an HR24 box with new install?

Supposedly the chances of getting a HR24 are greater if you are getting Whole House DVR Service at the same time, as it doesn't require an external DECA. If you want internet access (for On Demand, Netflix, etc.) also request the Cinema Connection Kit with your order.

    No es posible de allí.

    installing a new DVR receiver

Most Directv customers are probably unaware of the SWM5. Those few of us who have them are well-aware of the differences.

powered ota antenna and swm 8 connections?

The only way to do that would be to run a cable from the antenna to the power inserter and another cable from the inserter to the SWM8 (which would defeat the whole purpose of diplexing). Is there a reason you are unable to locate the inserter near the SWM8?

can i add a new swm lnb to my old 18- by 24-inch Dish?

The SWM multiswitch (SWM8) works fine with the AT9 dish. There are several listed in the $50 range on eBay. Still, a Slimline dish with SWM LNB would be a better choice. Have you asked Directv what they would charge to swap out your dish? The AT9 is more like 25 x 30 in.

can i run a hr22 on one feed from dish and split it at the reveiver for both sat inputs ?

Only if it is a SWM LNB. Alternately, you could run 4 lines to a SWM8 and a single line from there (this would be more expensive). Power inserters would be needed for either method.

    Is it possible type question!

Supposedly Directv will be introducing a new feature called "Nomad", which may accomplish what is needed. I don't have any details.

Getting out of region sports networks

To get a sports network other than your RSN(s), you need to subscribe to the sports package ($12.99/mo). Be prepared for a large number of blackouts.

DirecTV D12 Receiver on existing HughesNet dish?

You would need to go into the D12 setup menu and change the dish type to 18" round (even though it is not) with no multiswitch.

Using DECA for streaming media.....can it be done?

The Directv "green label" splitters have additional circuitry to provide coupling at the DECA frequency between ports which are normally isolated. However, if the isolation isn't too great, it will probably work (mine did, but I replaced it anyway).

    [langtitle=da]HR22 dish aiming trouble.[/langtitle]

The newer receivers do not have an audible indication, so you need to have someone watch the signal strength screen or bring the receiver and a portable TV to the dish location. Installers use a special meter for aiming, but with patience you can do it without one.

Using DECA to get an ethernet connection with no set top box present

it will work, but will cost ~$60 for each end of the connection (at a retailer, eBay should be less). Still, it is less than a pair of MoCA adapters (which use the same technology at a different frequency). Before DECA came out, I had one DVR networked via MoCA on the cable from my OTA antenna...
