Dish wants to come out for a "courtesty" check, what's up?

Welp, Dish guy left a bit ago. Bolt had come loose on the dish and was tilting, feller was done in 5 minutes. Appreciate the preventative maintenance :)

Dish wants to come out for a "courtesty" check, what's up?

Sorry for taking a while to reply. I'm not seeing any poor signals, mid 50s to low 60s on a few checks. Receiver is broadband connected and the rep said it had been reporting signal loss issues. I'll keep an eye on the feller. Don't figure it's anything shady, just seemed odd. But...

Dish wants to come out for a "courtesty" check, what's up?

Dish "Technical Support" called and wanted to schedule a service call to check out my equipment, see if everything is working right, etc. Under the guise of poor reception (big storm knocked it off for a bit a few days ago). They said the receiver (622). Said they'd check the LNBF outside and...

"Signal Lost" for certain channels, why?

Update: Had a local tech come out. Fiddled with it and went outside and got on the roof and said it had shifted some. He moved it back, and now back to normal. Now I can watch cartoons again :)

"Signal Lost" for certain channels, why?

Nothing changed with the setup, and losing more and more gradually it seems. I only watch the HD channels, and probably 30% or so get cut out. I tune to a channel, and the acquiring sat signal thing comes up, then goes to the error page (002 code) that says the signal has been lost...

Have an old pack, want to downgrade, how to do it?

slick, didn't know you could do it online. I thought I had tried in the past and you could only downgrade over the phone. Either I was wrong, or they changed it. I did it yesterday and worked well. Thanks folks :)

Have an old pack, want to downgrade, how to do it?

Yeah I don't much care for the locals, and they aren't available in HD (and where I am, can't get them by antenna). Wish there was a way to do all this online, would be a lot easier...

Have an old pack, want to downgrade, how to do it?

Been with Dish several years and relatively pleased. I'm on like America's Top 100 with the HD pack, and the additional HD pack (MGM Movies and stuff). I have a VIP 622 receiver, and an external hard drive hooked to it. I also am on the deal of 2 years of Cinemax for $0.02. Is there a...

    What does "new episodes" mean?

So I have the choice of only recording the current season and none that I have missed, or record them all, and manually delete every episode I've already seen?

    What does "new episodes" mean?

Anyone have a definition for this? Does it just mean episodes which the DVR hasn't recorded before? I have a 622 and usually just say record all episodes, but some shows (Like How It's Made) have hundreds of episodes and just record the same ones over and over. Would selecting "new...

There a way to only record a show, watch it, delete, and not record it again? (622)

Space wise I can't see it ever taking up more than a few megs, even if you recorded every show that ever came on. All it would need to keep is something like: Scrubs CMDY 1 Scrubs CMDY 2 Could have thousands of entries taking no space. I could understand the privacy concern. I don't keep...

There a way to only record a show, watch it, delete, and not record it again? (622)

Weak. Seems very easy to have this option. Why would I want to keep old shows I've watched? Isn't that what the protect thing is for? No way to get content off the 622 either I suppose :(

There a way to only record a show, watch it, delete, and not record it again? (622)

I don't subscribe to locals, and don't like watching live tv, or current shows. Say I want to watch Scrubs. So I make a timer for all episodes. It records at starting say episode 54, records all other episodes up to like 120 (or whatever they are at), then 1-53. So I sit to watch them...

Confuzzled: Have Dish now, what am I looking at to get HD again?

I know, I know, just call them. Well I don't think their CS folks know what they are talking about half the time. Inconsistent answers, charges different than what someone else said, difficulty changing packages, etc. In October of 2004 I got on with Dish, 12 month commitment, HD package...

I want 2 receivers in 1 room, why can't I split from the wall to the receivers?

Hurm, lots of acronyms I don't understand... I'll do some searching on them. So what does I need to do exactly? I guess I could just cut into the cable in the back room (where I had a receiver at one point), then run it through the attic to the receiver in the den. Or if the 501 has a...
