    Recording OTA on DVR522

I have a 942 and love it. If I were to cancel my Dish service in its entirety (financial reasons) would the OTA and/or DVR part of the unit still work?

why complain about price increases ?

Thank goodness for my 942 and OTA HD. I only subscribe to AT120 (no premiums) and get every HD local available to which my 942 dutifully records while not bothering my other two SD tuners. As long as I'm content being a year behind the world in watching HBO/Showtime (which I am) Netflix is my...

Dish deliberately screwing my OTA recordings?

Last night for the first time ever with my 942 I also lost ALL my OTA channels and I'm talking "0" signal strength on all of them. This happened right at 7:30PM PST and ended at 10:15PM PST when the receiver voluntarily reset itself. No new software updates, still on V388 - conspiracy theory...

    942 Obsolete: Dish Network Ripoff?

The 942 is NOT junk. I bought mine after the 622 came out knowing full well of it's limitations. For me it's a better buy. Being able to record OTA HD and having 3 tuners is awesome. I don't have the HD access fee they impose on the 622 either. I suppose if I watched HBO HD or Starz HD I'd...

Don't like Dish's Answers to Locals in HD - Here's an answer

You can actually record 3 shows at once with a 942/622. One OTA HD and two Dish SD - at the same time you are watching 2 separate recorded shows on two separate channnels!

    Unreal Radioshack Deal!?!?!

Yeah but for those of us who DO get OTA HD this is one killer box. I love mine. Oh, I get 10+ HD OTA channels. I agree that if I lived in the sticks this wouldn't be such a good investment but for me, it's better than a 622 (no 18 month agreement and no HD access charge).

    622: $99 vs. $299. I found the "Catch"

I prefer the 942 to the 622 anyway. I only record OTA HD and am not fond of the $6.00 HD access fee the 622 has. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation and for that reason I believe the 942 will NOT drop in value as many doomsayers predict.

942 - How to delete channels in guide?

I bought my 942 used. It was used back east and I'm on the west coast. When I search for programs the guide is still pulling up "W" channels from when it was used in Detroit along with the "K" channels I need here in California. It's kinda irritating because the "W" channels don't come in...

New software for 942 now spooling

That's probably a good thing since my 942 is working just hunkydory! Dish's forced 'features' sometimes make me :yikes

    Will a 942 work?

Does that mean I can cancel my Dish account, leave the satellite dish on my roof and the 942 will still tune and record OTA HD, albeit without the guide? That would be sweet...

An easy answer to this mess....revolt

I just bought and activated 942 last week to replace my 522. 90% of my viewing is OTA locals and the very few others that I'd like in HD don't justify the price, hassle or commitment required of the 622. I believe these 942 'paperweights' will go up in value like the 508 did once they become...

    Will a 942 work?

Hey, I bought my 942 from you last week Claude and NOW the little bird starts talking? ;) Unit works great though!

    Will a 942 work?

That is EXACTLY my situation! I bought a 942 last week and had it activated. It works exactly like my 522 did except I can now view and record OTA HD on the third tuner. That third tuner is just great because now I can record my shows in HD, the kids shows in SD and watch either something...

Any 942 HD subs ready to revolt yet or should we wait until tommorow?

Sorry, that should have read 30 DIGITAL channels. That does include sub channels as well as channels in languages I can't even pronounce. I scanned only for digital (not analog) and that's what showed up. For the most part I get all the big guys (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PAX, PBS) at 85-90...

942 remote won't control Sony AV Reciever

I programmed my 942 remote (IR) last night and sucessfully set up my Samsung DLP TV and my Sony DVD Player (using the VCR button) but I can't get the remote to operate my Sony STR-DE695 reciever. I tried to set it up under the AUX button following the instructions in the book (hitting "2" to...
