I just thought it was weird, because I wasn't using any aspect of their service, just my local airwaves. That would be your 911 service on an unactivated cell phone, imho.

We cancelled our service last year with dish, but we still have an old 211 receiver with an ota tuner. I went to hook it up to the antenna, and I got a message saying my receiver's HD service wasn't activated. What gives? Why do I have to pay to use the OTA tuner in MY equipment?

After I place an order for directv service and it's installed, is there a period that I can cancel if I decide I don't like it? Without breaking my contract?

I'm aware of the illegalities of "moving", but I just wanted to know if it's as simple to do as it is with dish network.

I kind of like that idea of mapping them down to the local channel range, as long as they don't interfere with my current local channels. For example, if I lived in Chicago and KTLA and WMAQ were both on channel 5, that wouldn't work out.

what about "moving" and receiving the national feeds?
