After many years of flawless use my Asc1 has bit the dust. It no longer appears to be able to communicate with my receiver. I originally thought my cable was bad going out to the lnb as i wasn't getting a signal any longer. So, after inspecting that and finding nothing wrong i decided to plug...

Well, no luck at all with the ebay 5g red filter. It feels like it maybe worth 3 or 4 dollars at the scrap yard or i could use it as a door stop. What do you think? :biggrin2

Yes, will do. Also, i originally heard that we could obtain these filters at no cost. Which would have been great since a new one is crazy expensive for what it is. But i guess that only applies to dishes registered to the FCC. :biggrin

I just can't see these kids who never even purchased a CD all of the sudden pay over a $100 a month for TV when they leave the parents house. It's not happening!!!:D

Yep, and the very last subscribers will end up paying more and more for TV. The less customers the provider has, the more they have to charge to stay afloat. That's what happened to cband! The prices went up and up to the point it no longer made since to subscribe as their numbers dwindled away...

I'm thinking about cancelling and turning my owned Dishnet equipment (still hooked up) back on for a month and hope Directv calls me offering me to come back as a new customer! Will they Call?

It seems like when i'm thumbing through the guide using the up or down arrow, going through each channel listing one at a time, as i approach one of the banner channels the guide then skips four or five channels and i have to then thumb back to the ones that were skipped. I don't think it did...

How is it choosing which programs to record automatically? If that indeed is whats going on? Hmm. I just tried the feature and it kind of looks like it's "on demand" pulled from the net.
