    HR21 Dual Tuner Buffer

Thought I would jump in here and let the OP know that he/she might want to join the CE program: DirecTV Cutting Edge (CE) Discussion Forum - SatelliteGuys.US The HR20 was recently give the ability to have the pause point "stick" when jumping between the live buffer and a recording. In this...

Ext. Hard Drive--can I migrate from Dish use?

I'm not certain, but I think the answer is no. The HR20 uses esata drives, not usb ones.

The DIRECTV HD Starship Puts the HD in High-Def with the World's Largest LED Screen

I only tuned in for a little bit in the 5th inning when the Rockies collapsed, but just happened to catch it. Guess the game became so boring at that point, they went to their corporate sponsor info. Nice shot of the blimp all lit up with text that said something about (paraphrasing) "Switch to...

    Switching to DirecTV - Questions

    1. The switch is the SWM, but it is not out yet. They say sometime in 4Q. You might want to wait until it is released if you don't want to run 2 coax lines per DVR to take advantage of each tuner and possible a third coax run for OTA. FYI, the OTA tuners only need 1 coax run, but it is split...

So what happned to Dish beingt he HD leader?

The actual term is 30 second slip. It is super FF. 30 seconds go by in about 2.5 seonds. I thought I would miss the instant 30 second skip from my old Tivo, but the slip actually works better to judge exactly how much you have overshot a show etc. Great for sports too. You can also stack them...

D* is currently beta testing their Directv On Demand system. Myself and other CE testers have it right now on our HR20 receivers.

Switch to E*? / Rant about D* upgrades

You aren't really comparing apples to apples. You are a current D* subscriber and you are getting a deal to upgrade. As JAG72 just pointed out, E* really doesn't deal much with their existing customers when it comes time to upgrade. You are getting a deal now because you are switching. At some...

I just upgraded 2 HR10's to HR20's... questions... remote addresses & channel lsts

From what I understand, it actually requires a change in guide data structure for D*. They tried to make this change last year and it ended up breaking some HR20s and HR10s.

    An Update

They should probably have planned to do this even without the technical issues. Sort of like those HBO/SHO/Starz free preview weekends. Show people what they are missing, in HD no less, and they may spring to upgrade their channel packages.

    Need advice - fraudulent charges

I'm taking a guess here, but I bet the PIN on her new remote is the same as the one on her old E* account or something easily guessed by a family member (b-day, telephone number, street address). Like others have mentioned, she should change it to something random and be careful not to write it...

    Splittling Direct TV??

It's called the Single Wire Multiswitch (SWM) and requires the 5-LNB dish and an SWM capable receiver (like the HR20). There is a 5 channel model and an 8 channel model. The 8 channel will allow you to diplex in OTA signals. The switches have both been in the hands of testing users for quite...

New Directv HD on their website

There appear to be some errors. HBO-W HD is also listed as available now, and it currently is not.

DirecTV 10 Signal Reading Thread(Transponders are Hot!)

You don't need the BBCs to get SNY HD or YES HD. Could be a combination of a bad BBC on one tuner and an improperly aimed dish.
