I don't know all that much about DISH, but I've been a customer of DIRECT TV before and I'll never go back to them - the zombies they have working CS is my biggest complaint, other that it would be no HD, that and they are expensive compared to everyone else and from what I remember it wasn't...

Yep, same spot as for me - I would assume that if this was a software bug that it would have been fixed well before now, especially since it has been around for a long time... Given that, and switching video modes (bringing up the guide) fixes things I'm guessing it has to do with the video card...

The only difference I have seen between the DVI and component (tried both on my VOOM box) is that the component kind of flickers getting into the resoloution, while the DVI snaps in - other than that, I don't see any difference on my setup (Hitachi 57" WS).

Just out of curiosity - does everyone have the "dead pixels" in the same spot or are they random, on mine (which only started up recently) it's in the same spot... If it's the box and has been there all along (a year plus for some), lets hope that the new fancy, smancy DVR will cure it all :D

With all the issues with the PQ since switching encoders - has anyone else had "dead pixels" show up? Essentially a white dot that will not go away (same spot each time) unless I bring up the guide - changing channels doesn't help... Just curious if I need to call CS or not....

I'm watching "SpaceJam" on HBO right now, and the pixelation is horible - but mainly limited to the quickly moving images, the faster the movement the worse it is... I'm not expert on video formats, but from what I understand the pixelation is coming from to much compression... Which says to me...

Hitachi 57" WS, component, 1080i

Volume a problem? I don't know if this is a problem with the mpeg4 stream or not, but in the last week the volume has gotten all screwed up (anyone else notice this?). I used to be able to surf channels without changing volume (a little if at all), now I may be on one channel, having to jack up...

Something is going on... I just did a whois on voom.com - and the database was updated 03/02/2005 @ 2:27 EST. It is still owned by CV and operated by CV - have no idea what the changes were :no This is getting nuts! Everyone outside of VOOM seems to be saying that it is walking to it's...
