Hello: Call a service rep for Dish today to have someone come out and look at my receiver. Was told that the vip222 was due out in August. Did not find out if it is only for new subscribers or upgrading customers.

Hello: I can no longer access the hard drive on my 522 receiver and getting error code 05B1. Is it fried? I have the 5.95 a month main't plan; how will that effect my repair costs?

and the reason behind this is the Pro sports contracts they have bought. Would it not be better if ESPN organized their pro sports packages into something similar to the NFL sunday ticket that Direct has? It seems that would help prevent the overall package of ESPN channels from going through...

Just offer the network programming in HD and give the local affiliates signal in SD??? That way you would only have to offer HD from 8 to 11 PM, 11:30 to 2:30 AM and Saturday and Sunday afternoon sports programming. Most of the current “local” programming is News, talk shows, and old reruns...

I noticed that that new 211/411 are single receiver boxes. Is dish moving away from the dual tuner receivers? It was always nice to save $5 here and there and it would seem that dual tuner boxes would save money for them on swapouts.

Over on Dish side of the boards, it is exclaimed by many that Directtv has a very "soft" picture quality in SD and in HD. Even below that of Dish which does not have the greatest picture quality itself. Is this true??? I realize that with bandwidth constrants that both sides have to compress...

I wonder if direct is going to follow the "top markets" directly ( hitting #44 before #45 ). I would guess the Louisville market (#50) would most likely be in 2007 or later :(

in their HD offering and the quickness of their Mpeg4 upgrades. It appears that Dish is taking a slower approach. Could this come back to bit Dish? I really see Direct offering all HD channels in the top 50 markets by the end of next year. But, I don't see Dish moving anywhere near this...
