I updated with the new firmware and now it allows me to play "300", as before I would get a system error. Common problem with this movie and some others.

Are you using optical or HDMI? HDMI can have some problems with certain equipment, so use optical if you can.

External recoding... I just got a replacement 622 receiver, and while going through the menus for changes I noticed that under the "Record Plus" menu it has an ERD tab which will let you enable/disable external recording. Has this feature been enabled?
