    DireTV and Tivo

I have a Tivo Premiere box that I bought for use with my local cable company. I am contemplating going to DirecTV. Wil the Tivo Box "work" with the DirecTV feed?

DIRECTV to Offer Local Channels in 172 Markets

I am new to Terre Haute, IN. I was amazed to learn that DirecTV does not offer locals. Now I see they WILL later have them, but as I see it, what is my incentive to wait for DirecTV when Dish offers them already. Will DirecTV give me another market's locals until they turn on the Terre Haute...

    Multiswitch versus splitter - applications?

I want to put up a second DirecTV SWM-line-5 antenna at my cabin. In looking at the parts I need, this is what I figure I need: SWMline-5 dish (with the 5-lnbs) 4-way splitter 21-VDC power inserter I see there is alos a thing called a multiswitch. What I wanted to know, what application...

    Dish doing too well?

DirecTV, Dish, Versizon-Fios. etc, etc, It seems like NONE of the lot know or care about "how to do customer service" . To them customers are little more than "milk cows" to be drained regularly and then thrown away when no longer productive. To me, that is the sad outcome of capitalism...

    Broken cover

It is posible it is really not broken. Mine has popped off sevral time before (H23-700) but I was able to snap it back into place. Being off does not affect the functionality, so --- duck tape? ;)

How do you make a roof mount leakproof?

I am looking at installing a Slimline 5 at my house, and about the best location I can find would be to mount it on the surface of the A frame roof (atop the shingles). My question is, what is the best technique to mount it and be sure that it won't create any leak point(s) where I install it? I...

LA residents losing NBC 4 out of NY as of 02/01/2010

I wish DirecTV would allow customers to add on any local TV feed (if technically feasible) for an added charge. Would be a great way for folk that move around to "stay in touch" with their home town news, plus be added revenue for DirecTV. I know that DirecTV uses Ka band spot beams for some of...

    Slimline Installation question

I guess I am calling parts by the wrong name. I was thinking about the 4-port or 8-port splitter. I was calling that the mulitswtch, thinking that was what was used feed multiple TVs from the single antenna. So, as I read it, I DO need the 4-port splitter even if I only have one TV

    Slimline Installation question

This soiunds like a simple question, but I can see "both sides of the fence". In installing a Slimline 5-LNB antenna, if I am only servicing up one TV, can I omit the multiswitch? Can I simple have the 21-V power supply line go straight to the LNB suite (And the other to the IRD)? Or, do I...

Does Directv charge for a service call?

I have the protection plan, BUT learned that a problem I had was not covered. The installer had left some of the cable running from the pole mounted antenna exposed. Well, I was mulching the leaves this fall (and thus could not see the exposed wire) -- and you guessed it the lawn mower blade...

My Experiences hooking up new antenna

Yeah, I know if I had put up Slimline like I had at home, I could probably get the same as home. the 101 works for me -- my main goal is to ba able to watch stuff from ym DVR, and maybe some news/weather here and there. I have an over the air antenna, so I can get local channels that way.

My Experiences hooking up new antenna

I am relatively new to the DirecTV technicalities, so I thought I would relay my experiences in (successfully, I might add ;) ) setting up a DirecTV 18-inch round antenna at my cabin over the weekend. I have an H23-700 receiver that I use a home with a Slimline-5S. I ocassionally go to a...

1 feed, Two independent channels in separate rooms

To use a single coaxial cable, you need to use the SWM (single wire multiswitch) technology. which basically does a frequency diuvision multiplexing to the different receivers. With a dual LNB, you would need to run a cable from each LNB, one to each receiver to allolw them to watch different...
