Sinclair to buy Fox Regional Sports

Sounds like you're referring to WKEF (ABC) and WRGT (FOX) from the Dayton OH market. Sinclair-owned but 'controlled' out of Indianapolis. They do the opinion segments too (the very last part of their news broadcast, right ?) and it's normally done by a guy from their Cincinnati station. I'd...

    Winding down with Dish

Ahhh, I see.... That's not an option for me (anymore). Will probably check eBay.

    Winding down with Dish

I might have missed it in this thread, but did you sell your old equipment ? I returned everything except for the (single-tuner) OTA dongle that I want to get rid of now.... If you sold yours, where did you do that ?

    Winding down with Dish

They don't need anymore than an hour or two even for DVR functions as long as the system knows what shows to look for and it queries the available programming guide data often enough to flag it in time to record it. The more days available, the less frequently the DVR tool has to "look" for...

    Winding down with Dish

Dish chooses not to. That's all there is to it. It's done as a business decision, nothing more.

    Winding down with Dish

The rep specifically asked if the LNB was in a location that I could reach and if I said it was on the roof, I'm confident he was going to tell me not to worry about it. In our case, it's pole-mounted in the ground and easily accessible. I do wonder how much single-tuner OTA dongles are worth...

    Winding down with Dish

Okay, the guy clearly said "per box" so I wanted to check ! In that case, I'll use theirs as I presume it include the foam padding like they use when the equipment is 'new'. If I use that and it gets damaged, it should fall under their responsibility more (as long as I use it right).

    Winding down with Dish

Have you done it yet ? If/when you do, would you mind posting what they tell you regarding returning equipment. I know they send boxes with return labels but I didn't pay close enough attention when he mentioned the 'cost'. I'm thinking now he indicated $15 per box and I can see them sending...

    Sad Ya'll Are Leaving

TV (at least cable or satellite model) just isn't worth it to us anymore. It wasn't anything about Dish. We're not switching to DirecTV or Spectrum either !

    Winding down with Dish

Don't think too hard about it. Do what's best for you. I won't tell you to cancel or keep it (no matter the cost).

    Winding down with Dish

It's not about the money other than every time I paid the bill I asked myself "why do we still have this ?". Matter of fact, if the rep had said it would have been ZERO cost for a year, I was still cancelling.

    Winding down with Dish

Just hung up the phone with them after cancelling service. Our kids watch next to nothing on "regular" TV and my wife and I force ourselves to find/watch more than 3-4 shows each that we really like. Myself, I watch The Big Bang Theory (which is ending anyway) and The Walking Dead. I mentioned...

    U532 Hopper3 software

If you mean a bug or multiple bugs that have existed for some period of time without being fixed, you have to think what they are fixing must be pretty bad even if we don't see them. The 'visible' bugs, while annoying, must not be considered critical or severe by Dish's rules. Or, they may be...

    U532 Hopper3 software

No, and this is probably the case with most of the s/w updates, the changes are very much back-end stuff, stuff the users don't see. Could be a bug fix for something very obscure that they've only encountered in internal testing but no reports from the outside world of it happening. Think...

Vizio TV question could be part of dish too

Yeah, seems like the most basic level of "troubleshooting" has been overlooked by him. I mean, it's a smart TV - turn the damn thing on with NOTHING connected and you'll get a pretty vibrant menu system/interface that makes it obvious if the TV itself works. I caught his reference to the ROKU...

4 digit channel numbers for Locals removed/hidden

Superstations were often operated by a 'local' TV station but their programming would differ (or maybe overlapped to some degree). I remember two very popular ones were from Atlanta (WTBS) and Chicago (WGN). The Atlanta station was popular (to some) because they carried Atlanta Braves baseball...

I'm about to order Flex+Hopper. New Customer.

Unless it's changed, you could never 'order' this adapter up-front. You had to buy it from their "store", eBay, etc, etc. As usual, Dish's own store shows it as out of stock. I do see them on eBay, Amazon, and Dish Depot so it almost appears that Dish chooses not to sell these and just lets...

Netflix on Hopper 3 or Roku?

I'm sure the picture will be better than what the Hopper 3 can provide but against the Roku, it could be close. Some people's eyes might consider the TV better while others consider the Roku better (even on the same TV).

Netflix on Hopper 3 or Roku?

On our Joey 2, it takes 35-40 seconds to fully launch, meaning picking my profile and having the regular Netflix screen with viewing choices. I have a Roku Streaming Stick (~2 years old, not the "+" model) and the same launch takes 3-5 seconds.

Coming back to Dish? but are the OTA & Joey 4K & Netflix issues fixed?

I don't remember nor doesn't it really matter, but some of the agreements to delay autohop-ability only applied to corporate-owned stations so if your local is privately-owned, Autohop might work within 24 hours like it used to when it first came out. I'm pretty certain this applied to CBS, for...

Guide data if i remove locals from package ?? lo

Unless Dish has changed it, Autohop does not depend on PTAT. They are two entirely different things. I have seen Autohop available on OTA-recorded shows personally. Someone posted screenshots and confirmed that Autohop worked on the show Shark Tank that was recorded on CNBC. It seems as though...

    Saying Goodby Dish Network 1995-2018

I think generally speaking, they'll never send a technician to remove equipment. Sending a technician to do the original installation costs them a LOT of money, hence the usually 2-year commitment requirement to re-coup those up-front costs.

    Saying Goodby Dish Network 1995-2018

All of the parts you listed are also only held in place by a screw or screws too though. Then again, I think it's more a case of Dish asks for the LNB back but they don't seem to press the issue. If you tell them it's mounted where you can't reach it (whether it's true or not), they waive the...
