Interesting. I've had both services, and E*'s HD PQ is better than D*'s, although not by much. I give D* the big edge in sports packages and reception. Eastern Arc should solve one of those problems. If you like movies in HD, however, E* just blows away D* in quality, quantity, and price.

Count me in as well as soon as Eastern Arc launches. D* has no redeeming qualities other than the most important one: reception. Once E* matches them in that department, I'll be back in a heartbeat.

...the only users who like it have never experienced another provider. I have only missed one recording, but it's just so clunky and slow and needs a reboot about once a week. D* is really smart to require 2 year contracts. I have another 6 months and I can happily head back to E* or Comcast.

D* DVR's are that bad, and they are not worth the problems. I can't wait until my contract is up to go back to E*. The HR-20 is just a bad piece of equipment. D*'s advantages are signal strength and sports packages. E*'s advantages are everything else under the sun.

Multi-sports pack is availabe for $6 as an add on to any package that already includes your local RSN. So, this would apply to Silver and Gold, but not Bronze.

My HD PQ with D* is far worse than cable but only slightly worse than E*. Perhaps E*'s has gotten worse since I switched to D*, but I still have Comcast and its HD PQ blows the doors off D*.

When I first got my Tivo HD, I couldn't understand why my HDD was filling up so quickly. Then I realized that Tivo Suggestions was just recording everything in sight. Turned off immediately and started deleting all that junk. Thank god you can disable it.
