I had no idea what ACM/VCM with MIS was before, so I found an article that explains it. Here it is for those who don't know about it.

It is extremely slick.
I'm not sure how the S9 and S10 work, but my Solomend receiver can't provide outputs through HDMI and composite simultaneously due to resolution issues. Can the MicroHD do this? I'd like to supply a composite output to my ancient slingbox at the same time the receiver is connected to my TV...
I've noticed that in the morning they show a couple of episodes of Lassie, Sergeant Preston of the Yukon, The Secret of Isis, and some crazy sitcom called Skippy the Bush Kangaroo. I can't track down a schedule for it though.
Interesting. After banging it several times, the positioner works again. I'll see if digikey carries a similar relay by part number to what's in the VBox. This thing is only a few months old and it's misbehaving already. It's a good thing I gave it the what for ;)
No potential difference across the motor leads when trying to go east and 36V going west. Yep, it's probably the positioner. I hear a teeny, teeny click when trying to go east. The relays in the VBox X aren't see through like some I've seen before, and nothing is loose (via shaking) so I...
On a second look, one of the limit switches stays closed (ie stays continuous with the motor wires) if the switch is depressed or not. The other one works by opening the circuit when depressed and that diode indeed has a lower resistance in one direction than the other.
It's easier to try...
I think it's the positioner. I tested the limit switches and they're working the way they should. I swapped the motor wires, and now I can move it east . . . but can't move it west now. I guess the positioner can only deliver current in one direction only.
For the time being I'm going to...
I ran into a weird problem. I'm controlling my actuator with a VBox X and I can move my dish west (extend only) and I'm getting pulses from my reed switch, but when I try to go in the opposite direction (retract), I get Error 2 from the positioner, ie no pulses.
I went out and loosened the...
I loaded that same Sadoun version via RS232 using the editor, but got the same results. I was hesitant to use the other software (PVR800 loader that has an "add bootloader" option because I don't want to brick my STB by mistake. I wonder if I'd have to do this to get it to recognize the remote...
I tried Sadoun's latest firmware version, but the remote problem is still there. I think I'll try loading that same version via RS232 and see if it makes a difference . . . but maybe I'll mess with it AFTER football today ;)
I restored factory defaults . . . only problem was that I modified the .abs file first and it restored the firmware when it had a whole mess of channels and transponders programmed. Now I have to find a clean version of firmware to load that will work. I forgot about all the versions that are...
Thanks for the idea. I'll give that a shot. I haven't messed with firmware or dumping for awhile just because I've had so many equipment problems/failures over the last few months - I just wanted something that let me watch just one channel that I wanted to see. Now I'll have to start...
The strangest thing happened to my remote yesterday on my Solomend reciever. The remote will not work unless its navigating and accessing the menus. This includes changing channels and turning the power off in normal operation. The front panel buttons still work fine. However, once you get...
Jim, what version of firmware are you currently running on your Solomend? I have a Solomend too, and I'm using the version that came out right before the one that had the green tint problem with the composite output. Thanks.
