Do I need DVR service to pause/rewind live tv?

Let me reword that a little bit. I already have the DVR service now, but I'm wondering if I can cancel it to save $10 a month and still retain the ability to pause/rewind live tv.

Do I need DVR service to pause/rewind live tv?

Do I need the DVR service that is $10 a month in order to pause/rewind live tv? I don't ever use the DVR to record anything on a schedule. I only use the DVR functionality to pause/rewind live tv when I'm watching sports. So, do I need the $10 month DVR service in order to do that?

What dish/lnb to get for travel?

Thanks for the answers. Am I correct to assume that with this setup all I would need to do is hook the receiver up and use the receivers signal meter to find the satellite?

What dish/lnb to get for travel?

I know this question has been asked hundreds of times, but some of the information contradicts itself so I want to be sure of the answer. I have an HR24 and H24 in my home. I want to be able to take the H24 with me when I travel. I have an 18" round dish that I've used in the past, but I...

Brainstorm session: need help with tailgate LOS issues

A pole is not an option. When I mentioned the trees were 100 feet tall, it wasn't much of an exageration. They are at least 40 or 50 feet tall.

Brainstorm session: need help with tailgate LOS issues

That's a good point that I didn't really think of. However, pulling the dish back away from the trees creates a hazard as the RG6 would be stretched over the parking lot where people walk and drive. We were able to do it last time because we didn't set up until the lot was virtually empty, but...

Brainstorm session: need help with tailgate LOS issues

Anyone got any ideas on how I can get a signal when I have tremendous line of sight issues? I just can't think of anything to get around this problem. Our tailgate spot is right up against what seems like 100 foot pines that are at least a hundred yards deep. To hit the appropriate birds...

    Have 301, need smart card

The technician I was working with was going to do that. The smart card and receiver came from different accounts and he was going to combine them under my account. However, because of the lease issue he was unable to separate the smart card from that account.

    Have 301, need smart card

I purchased a 301 with smart card from a guy on Ebay. I tried to activate everything last night, but couldn't get it done. The Dish technician told me the smart card I had belonged to a receiver that was leased and had not yet been returned. He said the account was inactive, but he could not...

Advice needed for my tailgate setup

Thanks for the quick replies. What do I need to get off the box to check if it has a balance? Also, forgot to mention that I need to hit 110 and 119 as I believe my locals are on 110.

Advice needed for my tailgate setup

With college football right around the corner, it's time to dust off my tailgating equipment. I have an extra Dish 500 that I used to connect to my 322. The problem is I returned my 322 at the end of last season because I no longer needed it in my house since we moved. Now, I'm trying to...

Dish Network on Adelphia Sale to Comcast / Time Warner

I got lost in all the legal babble. Is Dish basically saying they should have access to Comcast/Time Warner exclusive programming such as the CSS sports network? I live in an Adelphia service region and have long hated the fact that I can't get CSS.

    Need help with cable interference

It appears to be working now. I buried the cable yesterday, and went around with the collar today to make sure it works every where. The cable company still hasn't come back to fix the cable, but I buried it myself where it crosses my fence line so they won't have to do it. Next step is to...

    Need help with cable interference

Sorry, I've been kind of tied up this week. I did splice a new section of wire into the fence. So far, it seems to work. The fence acts as it is supposed to and the tv cable does not set the collar off. I'm thinking about burying the new cable this weekend. Hopefully that will be the last I...

    Confused about new receivers

I'm hoping it means an end to having the receiver plugged into a phone line. Ever since I got Dish, I've been wondering why the receivers don't have an ethernet port instead of a phone port. It offers so many more possibilities.

    Need help with cable interference

I'm going to try to put a new section of wire in tomorrow and see what happens. I plan on putting in a long enough wire to cut out the entire side that may have the cut in it.

    Need help with cable interference

I still suspect a cut in the fence line. I just did the same test I did a couple days ago where I created a small perimeter around the cut section of tv cable, and the signal did not bleed into the tv cable at all. The fence worked as expected, but the tv cable did not activate the collar...

    Need help with cable interference

Well, not quite what I had hoped for. I pulled up the fence line and didn't find any breaks, cuts, slices, etc. I did however, find a cut in the tv cable. The outer sheathing was cut and the mesh inside exposed. I think I'm going to try to patch that just to see if it solves the problem. If...

    Need help with cable interference

OK. I'm 99% certain that the break is in the fence cable. I just hooked up a shorter piece of fence cable that I know is not broken. I passed it over the tv cable in the same manner the other one is, and lo and behold, the collar did not go off! If I get close to the fence line it goes off...

    Need help with cable interference

I just thought about this: could the break be in the fence wire? Would that cause the signal to leak into the tv cable? Given the tests that I've already performed, could that be possible? The fence will not operate if the line is completely broken, but I guess it would operate if it was...
