    Ooh, shiny new News Monitor!

Nope, I sure didn't see it... I see it now that I'm logged in! :) Is it just me, or are signatures not shown if you're not logged in?

    ATSC Modulator

I have been thinking the exact same thing. It would really nice to have since it would use existing wiring. I doubt the Dish DVR designers haven't thought of this. Hopefully it's just a matter of time and not legal issues... -GunnerJoe

Pixelation problems (normal or signal strength?)

Thermal images of 722 I posted the thermal images of the 'before' 722, I haven't had a chance to do the new one yet, and only will if there is a significant difference. I thought they belonged more in the 622 Temperature thread in the Tech sub-forum. Here's the link...

Average 622/722 Temperature thread, Is your's Hot?

Thermal Images of 722 I thought you guys might be interested in seeing what gets hot inside a 722. Here are thermal pictures so we can all see what gets hot in this thing. These are taken with a 320x240 thermal imager, so it's not quite as high-res as I like. Maybe one day I'll update with a...

Average 622/722 Temperature thread, Is your's Hot?

hid3f: Your temps look fine. My temps were 138/93/127, but I was experiencing major pixelation problems, not reboots. I installed a 120mm case fan on the upper back on the TV stand cabinet, and dropped my average temp several degrees which greatly improved the problems I've been seeing. Did...

Pixelation problems (normal or signal strength?)

Thanks for all the suggestions! Well, so far so good. I'll get my next 722 in a day or two. Hope that one works, too! ;) I picked up an external HD to archive off recordings this time. Too bad there is no easy way to transfer timers. That would be an EXCELLENT feature to add to...

Pixelation problems (normal or signal strength?)

I'm patient about this, probably too much so, but I like the Dish receivers. My wife, however, is screaming for us to drop Dish. I bet the smartcard was probably just someone punching the wrong key in the computer. I also read about us all getting smartcards in the near future, but this one...

Pixelation problems (normal or signal strength?)

You're not talking about the OTA loss of signal message, are you? I have only seen a full solid yellow screen (sometimes white or green) when loading an "Enhanced TV" interactive app, like when pressing Select while watching the Weather Channel. I don't think I've ever seen a yellow screen...

Pixelation problems (normal or signal strength?)

Thanks Highdef, that gives me something to look for. Installer is coming Monday to replace the LNB, I'll ask him to keep a look out for that. Finding a way to do that without making it sound like I don't think he knows what he is doing won't be easy though. :) There are 2 cables running...

Pixelation problems (normal or signal strength?)

Hey folks, We upgraded from a 522 to a 722 at the new year, but have been having an issue with pixelation. It happens maybe twice an hour, and I've only caught it on stations broadcast from the 129 satellite. It usually lasts less than a second, sometimes the sounds drops as well. I live...

    VIP722 Improvement Suggestion to Dish

When the "record event from the beginning" option is grayed out, I'll hit cancel then rewind as far back as it will go, THEN press record again. It records from that point forward.

HDMI Analysis Results - Still no picture - Help??

I also have a Sony TV so I was starting to think that there was a compatibility issue. But I tried the HDMI on a small Toshiba and got the same results. Had a tech over yesterday to check it (and repoint my dish since I lost the 129 sat signal when it rained). He tried a 622 and the HDMI...

    625 TV2...No Sound?

Sounds like a defective 625. Audio and video are carried on the same signal. If you have one, you should have the other. Try hooking the 625's TV2 out connector to the TV that you are currently using for TV1 with a short cable. That should eliminate your wiring from being at fault. Can you...
  18. GunnerJoe

Simple Question. Need a simple answer. 522

More complicated answer: If you are recording two programs at the same time, however, you cannot watch a live broadcast of another channel. But you can watch a pre-recorded program on either/both TV's while it's recording 2 channels. The 522 has two tuners, so it can only see/record two...

    2.53 Returns Old Problems!!!!

As you run out of space, the DVR automatically deletes the oldest non-protected recordings to make room for current recordings. So it is possible to run out of space, then end up with more available space after another show has recorded.

    Upgrade 508 to 522/625 - worth it

No, they don't have analog tuners. Most local channels (depending on market location) are provided digitally via satellite. So, there is no OTA tuner on the 522/625.

    625 2nd hard drive

From what I understand, and I could be wrong, is that the VOD programming is recorded to the VOD partition during times of inactivity on a tuner. Then when the full program has been saved (automatically) it becomes avialable to you to watch at any time. You don't have to wait for the show to...

    Can I record a PPV

When you schedule a PPV to record, it automatically gets set to priority 1, so no other events should pre-empt it.

    522 DVR Noise

From another thread: I find the fan much more noisy than the hard drive. If the top of the 811 feels very warm, then that could be your problem. Heat rises... The fan only runs when the 522 is hot, so try moving the 811 away from the 522 and let us know if that did the trick.

    522 DVR Noise

Make sure nothing is on top of the 522. I used to have a DVD player on top and the fan ran all the time. Moved the DVD player underneath and now the fan no longer runs unless a book or couple remotes are left on top of the 522. It's never been in any type of enclosure.
