Dish Programming Changes (Effective August 1st)

Thanks for that, though of course its still confusing, I am not sure why the channels in the Platinum Package are where they are, most contain programming that I personally don't consider platinum or premium at all; now that I've started to look at it.. About the only one in there is HDnet...

Dish Programming Changes (Effective August 1st)

The questions that I think would maybe clear this up, at least for me are still the same, but I see no answers yet... so, I thought I would try it again.. If you have Platinum now, which is a $10 package, come 8/1, you'll get it anyway and your bill goes down $10, yes or no? Or If you have...

Dish Programming Changes (Effective August 1st)

So, I've read this whole thread, and somehow still missing the bottomline//.. If you have Platinum now, which is a $10 package, come 8/1, you'll get it anyway and your bill goes down $10, yes or no?? Or If you have Platinum now, and you cancel it, you get a $5 cancel fee, and save $10...

Updated: Court blocks Permanent Injuction ordering DISH DVRs disabled

It may cost Dish a pretty penny to buy Tivo, but in the long run, it could prove worth it, Tivo execs realize that its almost over for them, otherwise they would not trying to sue themselves back into the black. How long would they last on licensing alone if no one else ever bought a Tivo...

Updated: Court blocks Permanent Injuction ordering DISH DVRs disabled

If "time-warping" is the only issue at stake, and the description of this is viewing something else while recordng something else or watching another recording while something else is being recorded, the solution is to only allow you to watch the live recording and not time-warp it. Course, I...

Updated: Court blocks Permanent Injuction ordering DISH DVRs disabled

Yes, that seems to be a prevailing mentality for some, however until one can walk into Echostar and tell me first hand that its true, then I will tend to think that they are trying to save me a dime by towing a line on eccessive channel costs.

Updated: Court blocks Permanent Injuction ordering DISH DVRs disabled

I think you have it backwards as to who is playing fair. Dish takes action against what it feels are excessive costs that they would have to pass on to you, trying to minimize those costs. If they cannot come to agreement, the channel goes away for a while. As I see it, its NOT Dish's fault if...

Scott's Crystal Ball Prdictions (A PLEA TO DISH NETWORK)

I guess enough its enough... Don't know who JL is, don't care.. I can understand typoes, and I am sure I make my own, but I try to take care and correct my errors if I spot them. Not sure I tried to tell anyone to do anything, the only thing I want to see is more facts.. and all of them...

Scott's Crystal Ball Prdictions (A PLEA TO DISH NETWORK)

I don't look at everything in terms of competition with another web site.. just because you have higher membership numbers does not always mean better, it may just mean more stuff to wade through to find anything useful.. However, based on your post and many of Scott's, thats what its all...

Scott's Crystal Ball Prdictions (A PLEA TO DISH NETWORK)

Scott, If your posting information that Dish would prefer to remain confidential, you might eventually wind up on the paying end of a lawsuit you cannot afford.. While you can always lock me out or whatever, I think I have a right to my opinion, just as much as you do yours.. I can...

I really wish that the rumor mongering would stop.. Scott, you post all this stuff claiming Dish Sources, but then act like its not the case or hope its not true. So which is it?? (I also wish you'd learn to type or spell its predictions, not "Prdictions" I think it would be far better to...

    will 622 require two lines?

Charlie discussed them in his last chat several days ago. They are detailed in threads here somewhere. It doesn't start till the Feb 1st and their are some waits for better deals under certain conditions, it all becomes rather complicated because the marketing has become so complicated. Check...

    HD vs. HDlite

Yes, I know one can see a difference, I don't dispute that, it does depend on what your comparing to. However if the playing field is level, ie everyone winds up doing something similiar to extend programming, then the arguement becomes mute because your all watching the same level of quality...

    will 622 require two lines?

I think some of the 622 deals do include some Dish upgrades, you'll have to check when you move to get your 622. It all depends on your setup's complexity as to whether it can be easily done or requires more than the deal may provide.

    will 622 require two lines?

Extending your cables if you have the connections is always an option. however you can look around on Ebay and get equipment at some pretty good prices, or check places like DishDepot or Dishstore and add up what you might need to upgrade to Dish Pro gear to setup your 622 and any other newer...

    HD vs. HDlite

Yes, and your probably going to lose and have no where to go either.. Its real simple to say I want True HD and just completely overlook reality.. Like the fact that most people don't even have a HD set that displays "True HD" at 1900x1080. Or the fact that those HD streams at those bit rates...

    will 622 require two lines?

Shelly, the DPP separator will only work with Dish Pro Switches and LNB's. If you still have SW21's installed, it sounds like you have legacy LNB's and a separator will not work with legacy gear. The separator allows you to use one cable to feed a two tuner receiver, but all has to be Dish Pro.
