    Default polarity H or V

Also note that adjacent satellites have the polarity reversed in order to avoid interference. For example: if one satellite has the odd numbered transponders as H and the even numbered transponders as V, the satellite right next to it will have the odd numbered transponders as V and the even...

    Pizza Verses BUD.

I considered pizza a few years ago, but didn't like that some of the channels I wanted were in the (expensive) higher tier packages. If I could just pick the channels I wanted with pizza or cable I would go for it. But I don't want to be paying for 90 channels when I only watch 10 or less...

    New 4d box?

On the PowerVu side: there's already a consumer receiver: the Cisco D9865. The HD model has component video, HDMI, and coaxial digital audio out. The main problem is there is not a central authorization center like the Comcast SAC. If SRL wants to step up and work out contracts with Turner...

    hdd 1000 on flea bay

I stand corrected then. I was thinking you could use the ASI output to feed a ASI to QAM setup. To get component video, then yes it looks like you'll need to feed the ASI output to a HDD1000 or HDD1100.

    hdd 1000 on flea bay

The DSR6000 series should have all the HD decoding built-in. Shouldn't need to use a separate HDD1000 with it.

    DVBS2 Master's Poll

Motorola does have the patent, but if they wanted to they can license the DCII technology to another manufacturer to make receivers if Moto does not want to build the boxes themselves. All it takes is money. I would gladly buy a consumer DCII box that could get the DCII DVB-S2 masters. I would...

HBO/Cinemax and Non W5 services To Be Deauthorized December 29th

Every time the feds have tried there has been serious lobbying to block it: "People need ESPN. It must be included on the basic tier of any cable/satellite package. People not wanting / not watching ESPN is unthinkable." "If you remove packages and move to a la carte, nobody will pay for the...

More NPS BS to Misinform the public.

Comcast is one of Motorola's biggest customers with all the set top cable boxes they buy. Comcast should have enough clout to get things done. A new receiver would be smaller and cheaper now than in the past since it doesn't need to fit a VCII module into it. Leave out the transformer for the...

More NPS BS to Misinform the public.

Or they could let us sub using commercial receivers or make a new receiver that does combomode and MPEG-4 instead of having to go back to the older compression formats for the 4DTV.

More NPS BS to Misinform the public.

That's what I've been wondering for a while myself. How long before HITS converts W5 to combo mode or MPEG-4 and we lose the last of what the 4DTV can receive? Why wasn't there a new receiver in the works a few years ago back when the subscriber numbers were much higher than they are now? I...

    DSR-410 vs 4DTV - question

Exactly. Get the masses to believe the quality of second generation signals is as good as it gets so they'll never think to question if there's something better. If our chances for a new Digicipher consumer receiver are dead for getting masters, maybe we can work on the Skyvision or another...

    NPS G3 thats it

I jumped ship from NPS when they got rid of History International and Biography. I'll miss the channels on G3, but not the picture quality. Looks like I'm not on their mailing list anymore.

Any word on 4play or contact info?

Anybody know what programming language 4play was written in? Is the source code available anywhere? What did the person/company who bought 4play do with it? Did they ever release an updated version, or are they just sitting on it?

    DSR4410 setup - help!

What output port on the back are you using? Video Out or the OSD Monitor Out? Can you get it to display a test pattern on your TV/monitor? Also, use the Diagnostic Menu to verify the Unit IRD number matches the one on the label on the outside of the receiver. (To make sure the battery didn't...

    Genpix skywalker1

Might I recommend the Gigabyte GA-P43-ES3G, it has 5 PCI, 1 PCIe x1, and 1 PCIe x16 slots. It has drivers for Windows XP, Vista, and 7. It's socket 775, which supports the Intel Core 2 Duo and Quad CPUs. It's about the newest you'll be able to find that still offers that many PCI slots...

    From Turner Broadcasting Inc.

That's just propaganda. Companies like packages because they can charge you lots of money for 80 channels when you only watch about 15. If you could pick just the channels you wanted they would be losing profits.

    lawsuits against providers

If anyone needs to get sued it's the cable and pizza dish providers. One of the things I enjoyed the most about C-band in addition to the picture quality was the ability to pick and choose the channels I wanted. I don't want to pay for a package of 100 channels when I watch less than 15. The...

How much did you spend for your 4DTV

Bought my 920 new in 2000 for $720. I wasn't too happy that the 922 came out about a year later. Bought my 922 new from Skyvision in 2007 for $300 something. I have many fond memories of watching all the digital Showtime channels and all the MTV and VH1 music video channels before they had...

Don't Believe NPS about C band support ending.

Using commercial receivers to subscribe to channels: it all depends on the programming provider. [For non-HTIS channels] Some programming providers will sell you a subscription, but expect you to have a separate receiver for each channel. You would have to do some serious convincing to get them...

Lost my 410 to a dead battery

Motorola satellite receivers have a battery that "floats" or keeps alive the Unit ID number. When the battery dies or is removed the receiver's Unit ID number is lost and the receiver can no longer decode scrambled programming. The reasons they are designed this way are: 1) To reduce piracy...
